Super thanks for the replies, makes me feel alot more confident hearing stories that are successful. Anybody know how Northern rock are nowadays at accepting DMP's? I know they used to be quite agressive but wandering whether this has changed?
Northern Rock loan have accepted for 6 months. they keep sending me letters but not really saying much. just saying if i've already sorted out some sort of payment plan to ignore them! seems a bit of a waste of paper but still.
Natwest are my biggest problem and I've spoken to them today (and Payplan). they are my huge overdraft and are still charging me interest AND overlimit fees for their interest putting me over my limit in jan and every month since! would probably be no problem at all if it wasn't for this but as it is their charges are more than my pp payment so debt is increasing not decreasing.
Anyway, they sent a second letter saying how they value their relationship with their customers and could i please ring them to review my account! the credit review team woman i spoke to had NOTHING on her system about the DMP and said they'd received nothing! !!!!!! i only started in Jan/Feb. so she gave me a number for the collection department and is passing it on to them!
he said they had received NO OFFER!!!!!! but had received the authorisation and had confirmed balance. they say they've received nothing since then so it's still not been moved to the correct department and to get pp to resend the offer. 'Lost in the post' he suggested. Hmm, lost in your system more like.
Anyway so I phone pp and lovely James resent it over the internet there and then. and said they were only ones they had never got an acceptance or decline from. but he also said they sent it with another one which has accepted. the other one is a Tesco loan, so i reckon if it went to the same headquarters (or whatever) it must never have been passed to the Natwest account bit and only passed onto Tesco!
Fingers crossed maybe now they might actually be helpful! not counting my chickens tho!
Also got a halifax card and MBNA card, both accepted (MBNA for 12 months) and have been pretty reasonable since they were in the beginning two of the worst at phoning all the time!DMP Mutual Support Thread Member No 261Debt at start of DMP (Jan 2009) = 46,147.86 Now = 36,826.98DFD = [STRIKE]Jan 2014[/STRIKE] May 2013 ([strike]60[/strike] [STRIKE]52[/STRIKE] 41 payments to go)NSD:Nov 12/12:jDec 9/10 Jan 5/10Slowly but surely:coffee:0 -
Hi All, I've been on a DMP for six months now and I'm feeling a bit despondent this week - because of all the charges we incurred when we first started the DMP the debt has actually gone up rather than down over the last six months, and on top of that all our creditors have been reviewing our payments after the six month deadline, creditors who prevously had frozen interest are now starting to charge interest again, some have reduced it from the original amount, and some have applied so much interest that the monthly payment is less than the interest. I had so much hope when I first started the DMP - now I'm starting to feel like my creditors never want me to be free of them. All I want is to pay back what I owe them, all they want is to squeeze as much interest out of me as possible. We were planning to start a family soon (I'm really not getting any younger... I don't want to leave it too late) but that would mean cutting payments to creditors while I would be on maternity leave. My partner is self employed and since the credit crunch his earnings have fallen through the floor. I don't want to be an old lady and say I never had children because my creditors took priority...I'm not sure whether to tough it out and keep hoping things will get better, or whether I should go down another route, I'm even considering bankruptcy.
I hope everything is going better for other people on the DMP path at the moment. Sorry for the moan! None of my friends or family really know what its like to be in this position, but I know plenty of people on this forum are in the same unhappy boat as me.0 -

I hope it goes well for everyone and things run smoothly, it's so nice to know we are all going through together and can be there for eachother. If it wasn't for this site I would still be living a lie and running up even more debt. Thanks peeps :beer:LBM MAY 2009 :T

Helloo & Welcome dash
You'll heave a sigh of relief when you get off the phone. Anyone I have spoken to with PP .. have been soooooo nice.. calm.. and 100% non judgemental.
Try not to worry.. you'll be pleased you did it honest!.. Made the first jump.
We are all (well MOST of us here).. going through it all too.. about to.. or have already done it.
You're in the right places.. loads of great 'ears' to ramble on to.. and HEAPS of comfort and advice.
