    Good evening all :D

Been picking nits out my lads hair which took my mind off the debts for an hour or two :rotfl: although I'm devasted at the news that Peter and Katie have split up  (give me strength!)

Anyone still waiting for their tax credits renewal notice to come through? It seems to be taking an age this year

About time he got shot of that old hag, though call me a cynic this one just has "Publicity Stunt" written all over it!

Definitely lightened the mood for me! xx

My husbands saary was down £200 as he had taken time off to look after our daughter's when they all got chicken pox and couldn't go to school & nursery.

This messed us up for April pay day, we are with CCCS, so all our Direct Debits and standing orders for priority debts go out on the 15th (ou pay day) and as there was less money a few bounced, one of them was to nPower £185 for gas & electric. We thought of no but thought they would contact us and arrange to spead over next few months. NO No No, we got a letter a few days later from a Debt Collection Agency

DEMANDING £976 for all the Debt. Said we had 7 days from date of letter (6th may) before they would pass on the debt to be chased.

I contacted them as soon as I knew the DD had bounced and sent them a full SOA asking them to reduce the monthly payments to £120 a month as the £185 is killing us. They advised me that they have not got my letter or enquiries - even though I have automated e-mail's saying they have got them. They say they cannot discuss anything with me until they get this information

Now I am worried that they will try to get the full debt from us:confused:
    1. Should I just wait a few days and call back to see if they have got my SOA
    2. Contact CCCS to let them know about the letter & get the debt added to my DMP
    3. Wait until they chase me for the money
What do you think - anyone have any experience like this with nPower?

    Cheers

Regarding the claims on CC accounts I've just successfully claimed back all my charges from both MBNA and Halifax. They tried to offer me just the difference between, say, £25 and £12 but I stuck to my guns and claimed everything including interest. Had to send the two letters which Martin suggests but I got it all back.:T

    HTH
Thanks for that, did they send you cheques for it or just take it off the balance i presume they will take it off the balance as im in a dmp

That seems really unfair after one payment bouncing!! I'd give CCCS a ring to advise. I may be wrong but i don't think they can be added to the DMP as they are a priority payment, not a debt as such. but you might be able to miss a month on the plan or something, or reduce it to help!

No experience of this tho sorry, hope you get it sorted!

Hi again... Yes thery are going to take it off the balance. I've been advised on the 'ask a CCCS counsellor a question' board to give CCCS a ring to let them know the amounts so that they can update my records/balances. MBNA did state that the amount was not going to come off my arrears amount and would only affect my outstanding balance . As long as its taken off I don't think I'm really bothered as I'm on a low start DMP so in this for the long haul.

    Hi there

Sorry to hear about your troubles, hope things pick up again for you soon.

Unfortunately I don't think CCCS will be able to add this debt on as this is a priority payment rather than a creditor as such, so it can't be added to your plan. However it's still worth giving CCCS a call as they may be able to rejig your DMP payment for 1st June to cover the surplus you need to pay your bill. Obviously this means you'll be making a reduced payment to all your other creditors, but as the CCCS booklet says things change and sometimes you need to adjust your plan for your personal circumstances at the time. Its better this than to have no gas or electricity.

Give them a call hun, sure they'll be able to sort something for you xx

Just had a letter from payplan saying we have to go down on our expediture as Northern Rock wont accept the DMP otherwise we are so skint as it is! It is a total of £53 off our budget what is this all about anyone had this happen before?

Hi CCCS do the same. It's because child benefit gets paid 4 weekly so effectively you get 13 months of £132.80 which I suspect if worked out correctly equates to the £143.87 over the 12 months.
    hope this makes sense

    Hi Bexxie
I'm no expert, but that sounds very strange! We're with CCCS and if a creditor won't accept a dmp offer then we're told just to ride it out until they do, I'd be very surprised if Payplan were going to up their offer! The only thing that I can think of is perhaps your expenditure or parts of it are outside of the recommended guidelines!?
    Keep us posted.
