Dear Sirs,
I am writing to let you know that my circumstances have changed and I can no longer keep up the repayments as they are on my account. I am now finding it increasingly hard to keep up, and am sinking faster and faster. There is no way I can continue to pay them as I do.
I am a single mum with 3 young teenage children, one in school, one in college and one who has a lot of ‘emotional problems’, who is Statemented and had been permanently excluded from 4 schools. He now attends a PRU - Pupil Referral Unit (which he has for the last year and the foreseeable future) which is a part time out of school education department, and his last chance at not having to be taught at home, and me having to give up work completely to do that.
He is also under CAMH (Child and Adolescent Mental health). Attending the Pupil Referral Unit means I can only remain working part time, because his schooling is part time and he is only there till 12pm most days, and although he is 13yrs old, he cannot be trusted to be left alone if I were to work for longer.
Since my husband left some 6yrs ago I have borrowed more and more to keep going, and obviously become increasingly deeper in debt.
I take my debts very seriously, and have always tried to make sure I paid on time in the past. I hate to be in this situation, and I hate to have to ask this. But I can see no other option for myself, and still wish to pay back what I owe you. So for the foreseeable future I am going to have to make smaller payments and ask kindly that you can help in anyway you can by stopping charges and freezing interest.
I also ask too, that any correspondence to me, you may do so only in writing. My children are upset enough without the phone ringing all the time and me (and them) getting more upset.
I am including a SOA (Statement of Affairs) have taken advice from the National Debt Line and Pay Plan., who are helping me through this. My number case reference number is: .
I am also including a list of my creditors and the payments I am planning to make, worked out pro rata.
I’m so sorry to have to ask this, but I am willing to pay regardless of how long it takes.
I’m happy to provide any proof for you for anything that I have mentioned above.
Yours faithfullyVery proud of trying to deal with my debts. LBM 04/09

Hey Eupho, great letter! Didn't know that creditors had a human side but if they have one, it might just appeal! Wish I had such a great way with words...

hope this makes sense

thanks for that just punched it into the calc and yes they are right bloody silly way of doing it as it looks as though we are getting more per month than we actually are

Thanks for that ym, my thanks button doesn't seem to be working for some reason.
At last, someone else who has the same problem!
My thanks button has never worked. It just goes blank when I click it and logs me out!
Any ideas how to fix it?
I really want to be able to thank people for their posts!:T

Hi all
Just wanted to say hello & (i think) me & hubby are about to emabark on a dmp - i say think - we 've spoken to cccs & they have recommended either a iva or dmp - & as both me & my hubby work for banks (yes really ) an iva isn't an option.
So from reading & working thru our figures - we will have £700 pm to offer creditors on a £70k debt -- oh god i've typed it & i know how horrendous it is. i think its 'do able' - we will actually have £550 a month to live on - surely 2 people with no kids can do that??!
i'm so glad i've found this forum - i really did think i was alone in this.
Charm1 - feel exactly the same - cannot meet any min payments this month & have to now face up to the situation & deal with it. strangely tho i'm starting to feel posistive/ does that sound weird?
thanks for reading

sakia1,
i have been feeling nervous, scared and also like I have somehow failed??? but when it came down it I had no choice but to deal with and I am now looking at it as a positive turning point in my life. And when you are right down as far as you can get, THE ONLY WAY IS UP!!!!!!!!
x x x x x By the way I have just posted all documents off and letters to creditors informing them of what im doing along with a token payment of £5.00.. I was stood at the post box for a couple of minutes before i dare post them. was quite funny really. its done now, lets wait for the phone calls and nasty letters...0
