    Good evening all :D

Been picking nits out my lads hair which took my mind off the debts for an hour or two :rotfl: although I'm devasted at the news that Peter and Katie have split up  (give me strength!)

Anyone still waiting for their tax credits renewal notice to come through? It seems to be taking an age this year

    Hiya TP,

Dont get me started with the whole tax credits thing!:mad::mad:

Last month our payments stopped completely with no forward warning or explanation! They just weren't in the bank on the normal day.

Other half phoned up to ask what had happened and they said that we had been overpaid several years ago and they were stopping all payments until they had clawed back all of the overpayments!

Now we knew that we had been overpaid by £1000 a couple of years ago, due to their fault when they typed in the wrong figures quoted by other half. When we corrected the figures, they said that the overpayment would just be clawed back a bit at a time over the next few years. We were happy with this, but now they've decided to stop the payments altogether until the whole amount is paid back!

We weren't gettting loads, only £32 a month due to us not paying any childcare anymore as my mother looks after our youngest son when other half is at work and our eldest is at school. But that £32 helped us through the final part of the month before I get paid again!

Anyway, to answer your question, the actual renewal pack came last week. We actually estimated higher salary figures for the previous financial year than we actually earned, so that will go in our favour and reduce the time until we start getting paid again.

It really f***s me off when you here about all these polititions fiddling their expense claims and getting away with it and then here's us lot on here trying to make ends meet by working our b***s off and getting stung by this stupid tax credits system. If I had my way, it would be scrapped altogether. I know loads of people who exploit the loopholes in the tax credits system and claim hundreds every month off it!

    It really boils my p**s!!!:mad::mad::mad:

Sorry, rant over! Not in a good mood. After losing 3-1 to the toon, it looks like the Boro are going down:(:(:(

Thanks for your advice on Next guys, going to send them a letter just reminding them of DMP and their letter, explaining CCCS does not make payment til 25th.

Devongirl, how's it going your end with HSBC? The phone calls miraculously stopped as soon as they received their first payments, however I have a nasty feeling its probably the calm before the storm!! :s

    Hi MRSG2B :D

Yes, I think you might be right about it being the calm before the storm! I really don't think HSBC will stop harrasing people until they've given it a good 6 months!

They wrote to me about a managed loan a while back - I replied by letter to say here's my CCCS number, please call them if you are not happy with the repayment as they have advised me not to take on more credit while I am in DMP. HSBC wrote back with a revised monthly payment for a managed loan which, surprise surprise, is the exact same amount that they are receiving from CCCS. I must admit I was a little tempted to just sign on the dotted line, just to get them off my back but was brave and held firm.

Since then the calls started again and I decided last week to finally answer one. I had a long conversation (with a fairly pleasant person to be honest). She gave me 100 reasons to go on a M/L, the main one being that at the moment my payment on my HSBC overdraft is £15, while the interest is £13 so I'm only paying off £2 a month in effect, which will take a long time to clear the £1000 debt. I held firm and said I would not be taking on a M/L and said if they would agree to freeze the interest like every other one of my creditors had (that's a lie actually :o), I could pay it off a lot quicker, but she said no. I then was a bit cheeky and asked if she could forward my account to their DCA (knowing that they'd be more likely to accept my payment and leave me alone) but she said that HSBC wouldn't do that for 6 months. However on a brighter note, I did complain about telephone harrassment (4 times a day) and she agreed to take me off their automatic calling list for a fortnight. Apparently it runs on a 2 week cycle, but when the cycle starts afresh the calls would start again, so I wonder if it may be worthwhile speaking to them every so often to get them to stop calling me !!

I'm finding that there's no rhyme or reason to these debt companies. I owe Sainsburys Bank £14k and they accepted the DMP straight off; I owe HSBC a grand and they are have really thrown their dummy out of the pram! :rotfl:

Anyway, sorry to write War & Peace!! How are you finding HSBC? (And anyone else who has bothered to read this!!) ;)

    Hi All,
Not been on for a couple of weeks so hope everyone is getting on okay.
I've had all my figures confirmed with a lovely lady at CCCS and everything gets going for 1st June.
Had a default notice from RBS this morning requesting the full amount within 14 days -

Am I right in presuming this is just a normal progression of things?

Am sending off my May token payments with letter this week so am hoping that will update them (again) to my situation.

Also, in regards to getting postal orders - can you just ask for blank postal orders to the amount of £1 each and then fill in the details yourself?

    Sorry for the long post:o
    Thank you in advance :D

I haven't been on here for while but can't believe I've been on my DMP for a year now! No major issues with it, I've just done a review of my budget with Payplan and have a whole £10 a month more to put towards my debt :) I've got what I think is my last default notice, so I'm just waiting to hear from a DCA on that one but otherwise I'm just plodding on. The balances don't seem to be changing much but I'll get there.

I have had a letter that my MBNA debt - which was with IQOR and they didn't provide a copy of the CCA - has been passed on. Not sure if they're allowed to do that? Anyway the new company will get the same letters. Otherwise, everyone has been quiet and I hope they stay that way :)

    Hey jenevieve

Yes, it says in the CCCS booklet that you get when you start a DMP that default notices are standard fare from creditors. It says to write back to creditors with your CCCS budget, but on the 'Ask a CCCS Counsellor a Question thread', the advice was if they've already had a budget and your 'notice of entering a DMP' letter (can't remember exactly what they call it, but it's a photocopied form that you fill in and send to creditors), just to file it away.

Regarding POs, yes I think you can ask for blank ones and fill them in at home, although I personally got the post office to complete the payee just so I could send them off by recorded delivery at the same time and avoid another trip to the PO. They cost 50p for a £1 order, as I recall.

    Good luck :D

I'm with you on the no rhyme or reason....Egg have defaulted me for £5.....£5??! Is it worth it?! I only owe them £400 in first place, unlike HSBC who I owe £14k! Can kind of understand them throwing their toys out of pram, but egg? Get over it lol!

HSBC still haven't called since they received first DMP payment, kind of missing having the missed calls on my phone now (sick eh? just makes me worry when I'm not being chased that something else is happening!) Sure they'll start the verbal assault again soon though!

Otherwise everything elses seems to be ticking over tickety boo right now! :j

Well done you for getting cheeky with them though Devongirl, we won't know unless we ask!! :T

Well,it has started....thought it was too good to be true...

Havent had any calls from any creditors since I sent token payments for May payment-starting DMP with Pay plan 1st June, had a call from a guy from MBNA at work today(damn-thought I had deleted contact details from online banking few weeks ago,may have to re enter but leave 1 digit short!!?!!?) my boss answered,he is aware of what is going on so no embarrasment,I just told my boss to take a number and I will call them back.Tried to call, but the office was closed-was a company called Ageis??? Anyone aware of these guys,I take it it must be in house collection agency or something.....can I just tell them to not call me at work and anything they ask will have to be in writing...?? I know that they are aware of DMP as payplan has told me that all creditors have got back to them.........not overly panicking to be honest as I am expecting the calls but would just like to keep them to a minimum
Oh and also,as I have got my first call from a creditor can I please have a DMP support thread member number? Really feel like I am in "the club" now....

Hope everyone is well. I had a problem last week with payplan in that i paid them 360 and only 176 had gone out, i phoned them up though and there had been a glitch in their system as i upped my amount with them , but its all sorted now. The payments have all gone out to them my case officer said, they arent all showing on justabank yet but hopefully will over the next couple of days. The only thing i found strange was the face that she said all the creditors have had the payment sent to them but she said she will only be sending out the offer letters this week with payment amount, doesnt seem to make sense to me, why would they send out the money then the next week send out the offers? She said she would ring me next week with more of an update so i supose i may wait and see. Just very glad have my first payment made and im on my way.

Also keen to know has anyone had any experience of reclaiming charges etc after entering dmp? I have had ppi on a bank of ireland card since 2006 and the balance on it was always well in the region of 4/5k. Is it worth me trying to pursue that? Would they just take it off my balance if i was successful? Also have it on another 2 cards tho would only have been 5/10 a month. Is it worth pursuing that?

Also in relation to charges on my cc accounts would it be going after all the £12 charges on my acc for being overlimit and late payments etc or is this standard and what they are allowed to do, they will probably say u didnt pay and were late so thats why was fined. ss again for all the questions, Would appreciate any help.
    Thanks xx

Regarding the claims on CC accounts I've just successfully claimed back all my charges from both MBNA and Halifax. They tried to offer me just the difference between, say, £25 and £12 but I stuck to my guns and claimed everything including interest. Had to send the two letters which Martin suggests but I got it all back.:T
