Luckily I have managed to find a job to do Sat nights bringing £500 a month in so all not lost but jesus nightmare and that isnt over yet as we are waiting on a ballot it is either lose 10% or 20% pay and you can bet your bottom dollar people will vote 20% coz they can :-(

Hope everyone good I think I am getting flu as hubby laid up in bed with it currently and I am feeling bad so reckon its in pipeline and no not swine flu is just normal

Well all done - phoned CCCS at lunchtime managed to get through to a counsellor straight away - went through it all, and the pack has been emailed to me, just having a browse at the letter that I have to send to creditors - can anyone let me know what the reason they put down for not been able to repay??
think I saw something on here about this before but can't find it now!

Thanks and the DMP starts 1st June - so hi to all the other 1st of Junners;)

We quoted 10% reduction in salary, over commitment on debt / loans etc. Credit crunch / cost of living increases and fuel / energy costs that over a period have been sufficient to tip the finely balanced scales... kept appologising to our creditors when they asked for money saying "we just dont have any" .. offered them items out of the house as a gesture of goodwill at one point too.

They even asked if we have any assets over £500 we could sell .. I replied apart from my wedding ring but there is no weay in hell that is being sold for scrap value.

Being on the DMP has really eased things. we are finding we can play the game now as 9 out of our 10 debtors have accepted and we have enough money to live and enough to put aside for treats.
We both are taking financial management seriously now and my hubby is running the bills and accounts. I now ask him if I can spend money where as before I would just come home having spent a load and put the statements in the drawer, only paying the minimum on direct debit

    Good afternoon all!:j:j
Haven't been on here for a while and feeling a bit guilty really:o as the only way I'm where I'm at today is because of the support that I was given from all the great guys on this thread,:A and I'm sure there are people feeling as I did at the start of my DMP who could do with the same support that I received.:A
Quick update of where I am..........9 creditors in total:eek:, all very quiet, I get the odd letter here and there advising me that I'm in arrears (just in case I'd forgotten I s'pose;)) and that's about it. Just made second payment to CCCS, and seem to be coping ok with the budget side of things.
Just wanted to let all newbies and anyone thinking of taking the dmp route that it is THE BEST THING YOU WILL EVER DO!!
I was a wreck at the start, worrying about people turning up at my door demanding money, charging orders, CCJ's, phone calls in fact anything you can think of I was worried about it. I don't think I stopped crying for days after my LBM and the realisation of the amount of money we owed, my life line was this thread :A. There's always someone who's had the same (standard) letter as you or the same type of call as you have ,and it is so reassuring that there is someone to talk to about the situation who understands EXACTLY what you're going through.:T

Keep at it guys, stay strong and to anyone worrying about what you've done / are doing, please believe me when I say that in a few weeks time you'll feel 100 times better than you do at the moment, there really is light at the end of the tunnel.:D
I don't have much experience compared to some on here , the only thing I would say is please please please don't set your budget too tight! We're a long time DMP'ing, so may as well make it as enjoyable as poss.
    Take care guys!
    MD xx
Finally brave enough to deal with my debts! :D

great stuff massivedebts. I remember when you first came here. Good to know others have realised things really are not as bad as you initially think and there is a solution. Ok its not an overnight solution, but there is a light at the end of the tunnel, its just sometimes we have to stumble though the darkness for a while to see it (very profound I know :) )

Oh .. one of the things was 'Standing Orders' ..

I've never used those before.. do I just go and get/pay for them from the Post office and can bring them home and fill them out?

(and!.. could I get a member number pleeeeease)

    Hiya,

    Do you mean Postal Orders?

If you do, then yes you just buy them at the post office, take them home and fill them out. They are very similar to a cheque. Very easy!;)

  • Hello

I am on a DMP and have been lurking on this board for a while although I have never been brave enough to post!:D

I just have a quick question can I still try and reclaim bank charges and PPI charges obtained before my DMP started?

    Thanks

    Hi all
I'm trying to help a family member with debt problems and am going through her budget.
Just wondered what the recommended amount for her food budget would be, there is just her and two kids, one 6 and one 3.
I think I read somewhere there were govenment guidelines for this but can't find them so just wondered if anyone was in a similar situation.
    Thanks you guys:D
