    Hi Crafty,

Just wanted to say welcome. You are in a very similar position to us in terms of amount of debt and monthly repayments. We have been on our DMP for over a year and it is the best thing we have ever done. Most creditors are quite happy with the repayments as they are not massively below what they should be (but the extra cash makes SUCH a difference to our day-to-day life.)

The biggest change in our life has been not spending on credit. Some months are really tough with the budget but I cling onto the fact that we have got through another month without spending on credit! Seeing our statements reduce each month with little/no interest added is also so rewarding.

    Hi,
Starting DMP with Payplan on 1st June, the payments I owed this month were token ones,I cancelled all D debits from my bank account and moved all priority ones to new bank account
Checked my old bank this morning and 2 of the d debits I cancelled were reinstated and a payment has been taken out leaving me well over drawn so I have a charge on the account aswell!!!
Can anyone let me know if they are allowed to do this,as far as I knew I am the only person that can reinstate D debits on my account!!! I knw I can claim charges back but will not do this yet as I am guessing there will be a lot more in the coming weeks!!!
    Thank you

I'm having exactly the same problem, I have a loan with MBNA that was being paid out of my Natwest account (also on my DMP). MBNA accepted the reduced payments through CCCS, but I keep on getting letters from them saying that their requested payment of $30 (don't have a pound sign on my keyboard :S) keeps being returned unpaid!!! And I keep incurring a $38 charge everytime.
I've tried cancelling the DD with Natwest through online banking, phone, in branch and by letter but it is always reinstated!! MBNA say that they have accepted my payment and Natwest is reinstating it, Natwest says its MBNA trying to claim extra money. Neither one are admitting fault and I'm getting charged. I'm now taking my case to the Ombudsman:mad:
I'm always in the brown stuff (marmite)....only the depth varies!!! :rotfl:

Crisp £ note - Are you sure there's no further cutbacks you can make? How come you have so little money spare, have you been robbing peter to pay paul etc in the past?

Our main creditor has done a similar thing, all DD cancelled but after 2 months they have re-activated them on her account for the loans with them...100 quid in charges . Robbing bast***ds.

I had a nice chat with a chap from Vanquis who informed me if I didn't play ball my life would be over as I woundn't be able to get credit and it's too late to save my credit rating. Erm.....well hello .

i hate the attitude that if you can't get credit then your life was over.
I have had creditors gravely saying to me that if i don't pay them my credit rating will be damaged ooooooh! ...... And im thinking to myself :rolleyes2 its not like i don't know that!!!! Why don;t i just carry on not having a bean to rub together so i can pay my creditors and have an amzing credit rating!!!! LOL.

Even my family have said to me...."what about your credit rating", but i definitely put quality of life over a daft credit rating!!!!

Hi Well there could be a few things I can cut back on I am sure but at the moment I have cut back as far as I can.

My hubby is self employed and struggling himself (plus he has his own debts on cards and business loans) but is hanging in there just and I am on long term Incapacity Benefit and out of work due to a degenerative condition of my spine.

Should I just send them the £1 token payment with the letter and no income and expenditure sheet and see what happens? I really need to send off something asap but gathering from advice on here am now more indecisive what exactly than I was a few days ago - its so confusing its driving me crazy .

Please can anyone to tell me what I should be doing, now, today, so I can make that 1st step as I want to get out of debt

I appologise but its all getting to me again now and such a simple step seems to be so difficult and stressfull.

Thanks for the help so far, I am determind to get this done by weekend (today I hope) I just want to get it right first try! It is so frustrating

crisp £ Note, You need to work out what you are able to pay your creditors once you have taken care of all the essentials such as feeding and clothing your family, payed the mortgage etc.
You could stall your creditors for a month or 2 with £1 token payments, but if your minimum repayments are high it is unlikely they will tolerate this long term. The reason my creditors accepted my £1 payments for 2 months was because they new i was commencing a DMP with the CCCS and had a reasonable offer of cash to cover my repayments. Its a lot less than i was paying but still reasonable enough to make a dent.

The problem is without a DMP and IVA or bankruptcy if you just stop paying your creditors they become a bit heavy with court orders etc, they also won't freeze interest and charges etc unless you negotiate with them properly and this is where debt conselling comes in handy, you could always let them take you to the county courts , but with a business etc it might not be the best road to go down!!!

I think you need a plan in place as simply not paying them won;t reduce your debts unless you get an IVA etc, hope this helps. Can you speak to CAB or someone???

Crisp £ Note - start a thread on this board, because there are people on here who can give you some top notch advice that may not look on this thread. They will suggest you do your Statement of Affairs and post it to the board so they can look it over and help you. I don't know about stuff beyond my own knowledge of my DMP and a few more bits I've picked up on along the way - and I think you need some help and quick.

Hugs to you, because you sound at the end of your tether.

oh and £ note don't let it get you down, at the end of the day if you really don't have the cash to repay, No court in the UK will make you pay, as long as you are honest about what you have to pay your creditors. Your family and wellbeing come first!!!
