Had a bit of a funnny phone call last night. It was a guy from MBNA who was actually really nice and seemd very knowledgeable. He said that they were willing to accept the DMP and freeze the interest on both our MBNA cards and our Abbey card but that my husbands payment was a little low and could we up it by £1.50 and that would keep things right. He seemed very on our side and willing to help and asked me if I would phone CCCS the next day and see if this could be done, and if not we would have to set up a seperate agreement with them ourselves which I would be reluctant to do.

When I rang CCCS today they wouldnt here of it they said that we then have to do that for all our creditors and it would be just showing preferental treatment to MBNA, she also said it was just a way of them trying to get more money form us and then next month they would try again looking for more. She advised if they ring again that I am to say that is alll we can afford and cannot pay anymore money, and that MBNA are well of their procedures.
The strange thing was too he came through on a number which stated private so you would not have known it was a creditor. Crafty or what. Anyone else experienced anything similiar??

I had to laugh at this request because a very similar thing happened to me when I first went on my DMP in 2007. MBNA called me & said they couldn't accept the payment offered but that they would if I upped it by 50p. I said I would need to speak with CCCS as it seemed stupid to allow charges & interest all for the sake of 50p, anyway I didn't ever need to speak to the CCCS as they had already agreed it with MBNA.

To be honest whilst I would never advise ignoring advice from the debt management companies I would seriously consider making the extra £1.50 payment if you can afford to do it. CCCS aren't very helpful when it comes to things like this, due to that my debt with HSBC has risen from £450 to £535 despite the fact I've made over 18 months worth of payments. Its only since I complained to HSBC that I've managed to get them to sell the debt on (Moorcroft have taken it) & now CCCS are currently negotiating with them, but at least all the interest has been stopped.

Some have been advised to put the worst cost down (that's what I did). So put £35 a week and if you have extra, save it for either emergencies or for full and final at the end of the DMP.

Don't forget, if you do get your figures wrong, you can ask for a review - it's not set in stone. So I would put down the higher figure and then in a year's time, if you have money saved up to cover winter time (I never seem to), then think about reducing it.

Great .. phew! that's made me feel better about that.

i received a letter from halifax yesterday accepting my pro rate offer of £113.12 and suspending interest and charges (am hoping by suspending they mean stopping) on a 12 month arrangement and then a review. they said as requested we are enclosing a dd mandate, good try, i asked for a standing order mandate!! but i rang them up and explained this error and they are now sending the so mandate. anyway pleased with myself this morning i thought i would send same letter and national debt line budget thing showing all proposed pro rata payments to people and hope for best. well half way through typing the post arrived and with it a letter from a debt collection agency on behalf of lloyds. well i contacted them and told them what the contents of the letter and budget i was about to send and she said they would accept the proposed £75.09 but they would not be able to stop interest only able to put me on a hardship rate of 5.9%. well only paying something similar rate anyway. told her that lloyds said 2 weeks ago they were stopping interest and further charges and putting me through to their consumer collections team who would contact me with proposed plan. she said if it went to them i would be black listed and not be able to get credit from anyone for between 6 and 8 years. i told her for one thing i didnt want any further credit and secondly as my other creditors were probably going to blacken my credit status anyway i didnt see the point of protecting it! she said we needed to stick to this plan for the moment as it was too soon to go through the consumer collection bit. i said i would go along with a dmp and gave her this month on mum card but am regretting it now. however it is a 6 month plan with a review. she also said she saw my £2000 f and f and said as i owed almost £6k would have to offer at least half. anxious now to stop them screwing interest out of me i said i might be able to get the money and so they are putting it to them and will be in touch. am so mad about the interest not being stopped when i was told it was, did ask for letter of confirmation of this at the tome but never got one. once i had sorted out halifax yesterday i worked out that last year alone i paid £998 in interest alone and as the loan was not due to end until 2013 that would have been an awful lot in interest, so am relieved they have stopped it. just hoping they will do the same after their 12 month review. anyway sorry to drift back to lloyds i am getting the template letter ready that asks for re consideration about the interest but dont hold out hope as they have never answered any of my recorded delivery letters................sorry have gone on and hope its not too confusing but has anyone els had this with lloyds credit card???

Oh, you just have to laugh at EGG :rotfl:

They've rejected the CCCS DMP offer and want more. But that's not the funny bit.

They wrote to me and said that my card wasn't going to be renewed. Even that's not the funny bit.

They wrote to me and said my account had been terminated and that it's being passed to DCA (that's not funny, but expected).

The funny bit is - they've written to CCCS and said that they hold a different name for me than the one that EGG have for me. All because I have changed my name by adding my maiden name on to my married name - it's still the same, but just has a little bit extra. Very obvious and clear that it is me.

EGG are such pedantic tits!! So phoned CCCS and we laughed at their pettiness. We agreed that to keep them quiet, I will send a copy of my Deed Poll to them.

I'm very tempted to CCA EGG now, because they're just being so pathetic. I can't remember when I got the card, but it was definitely before 2007!

I had similar trouble with Egg! I never bothered changing my name with them coz it seemed such a faff and the cards rarely got used coz they were maxed anyway!!

they queried it with PP, who explained it was in my maiden name and put me down with nee maiden name. but this wasn't good enough and they refused to do anything without me sending a blooming letter and copy of marriage cert to confirm it!

It's not difficult to understand now is it! they are just awkward!

Also have received all those letters!

  • Morning, hope everybody is doing OK!

My DMP starts from 1st June with CCCS. Had a letter from Next saying they will accept the payment and stop interest which was great. Abbey have advised they will accept the payment on 2 overdrafts and a loan, but did not say anything about the interest. Got a letter from Northern Rock this morning saying they would accept payment (about 40% of normal amount), but this would extend the terms of the loan. Does this mean the DMP will last even longer??? Please tell me not longer than the 10 years we already envisage aaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!

I think they mean if your loan was for 5 years then your new reduced payment means it won't be paid off in the original 5 years ;)

Hi I was hopng someone can help tell me what is best to do please.

I have recently done a Debt Remedy thing with CCCS, and its showing I have more going out than coming in each month. Anyway I have just printed off the letter they gave me for my creditors where I am offering £1 token payments. (I have missed the last statements minimm payment).

    My questions are

do I put in a copy of my Income & Expenditure sheet as done by CCCS and a copy of my creditor list (by CCCS) or just post the letter and £1 ?

How do I pay the £1 by post or online transfer as I normally have paid online.

Can I use the same letter and advice for my other creditors which are all loans?

Am I actually better off doing it myself via NDL considering CCCS cant help with an actual DMP?

    Sorry for so many questions.

Thanks for the help, have a great weekend everyone!

    :D

It is worth requesting the CCA but Egg are generally pretty good at getting them back to you. Not always in the supposed time limits but I am yet to see a firm be fined for not responding in due time. There is a reason why EGG CCA's should be deemed unenforceable but to be honest I don't really understand it & it's very complicated. I know its because their earlier agreements didn't state the term Credit Limit, it just says Limits. Trouble is most county court judges don't understand the CCA Act 1974 so they fined in favour of the creditor, especially when its something like a missing word that you are fighting it for.

I have requested a comprehensive list of all my default charges added to my account by Egg & gave them the required 40 days. They still haven't responded well after the time limit, whilst I'm now going through the Information Commissioners Office that will take at least a further 40 days. Egg are arguing that because I requested this info the only way it can be provided is by statements & statements aren't covered by the data protection act. Its all a farce really.
