Had a bit of a funnny phone call last night. It was a guy from MBNA who was actually really nice and seemd very knowledgeable. He said that they were willing to accept the DMP and freeze the interest on both our MBNA cards and our Abbey card but that my husbands payment was a little low and could we up it by £1.50 and that would keep things right. He seemed very on our side and willing to help and asked me if I would phone CCCS the next day and see if this could be done, and if not we would have to set up a seperate agreement with them ourselves which I would be reluctant to do.

When I rang CCCS today they wouldnt here of it they said that we then have to do that for all our creditors and it would be just showing preferental treatment to MBNA, she also said it was just a way of them trying to get more money form us and then next month they would try again looking for more. She advised if they ring again that I am to say that is alll we can afford and cannot pay anymore money, and that MBNA are well of their procedures.
The strange thing was too he came through on a number which stated private so you would not have known it was a creditor. Crafty or what. Anyone else experienced anything similiar??

    Helloo :)

I'm about to start a DMP .. with Payplan or myself.. (still undecided) Eeek!.

    Anyway..
Something I was wondering.. In December I got a sofa from DFS.. (not a luxury job.. I've had the same sofa for 20yrs.. and it cost me £15 back then! haha .. It fell apart... The new one was a necessity ~ I think)
I had a sofa from them on 2 years interest free. I was around 5 months before the end when I started the DMP and added the debt on. HFC, who manage the agreement weren't particularly happy at receiving £1 a month as part of the DMP, and have added various charges on. I sort think I should have paid it all off before starting the DMP, but wouldn't have been able to?

Anyway.. how does that stand on a DMP? Will paying for it still be the same as the other debts? .. or will they come and take the sofa back? :(
    See above...

Also.. Ebay.. (Havent used it for years).. But I was thinking of selling some things.. What happens to THAT money? .. Do I have to tell Payplan so they can add it to my payments? (it would only be LITTLE money) ... Or do I get to keep it and decide myself?

What happens with extra money you may get.. like your tax/mileage thing back each year.
I have NEVER claimed mine for my work.. (I drive a lot for work, my petrol) .. Someone told me I can claim as far back as 6yrs... But anyway.. what happens to money like that?
Any extra money that you make or earn, you can either keep for yourself, save for a rainy day, or save up to either give to creditors say, once a year, or to offer a full n final offer to one creditor. If you were to offer it all the time to PP and your creditors, they may expect it all the time. I've done a hell of a lot of overtime recently, and some will go towards a new telly, a lot towards paying off ground rent and buildings maintenance charges, and maybe save the rest, or put towards a service for the car. I don't intend to squander it as I've been there before...

Sorry to be a dummy :(

Hi,I myself will be startting a DMP with payplan 1st June and I have got a sofa from furniture Village a few years back on a interest free deal credit arrangement with HFC,I was the same as you, thinking that they would take the sofa, but from what Payplan have told me the sofa is a credit aggrement and not hire purchase,so as far as I know they will not be able to take the sofa,
Hope this helps and good luck

    Helloo :)

I'm trying to work out my spending for my SOA.. (for my upcoming DMP) and for here :)

My electric is a key meter.. in the colder time while I still have all the heating on, like now..(tho it's lower temp now, and a bit less money)

    Anyyyywayyy!..

On average in the colder months I put about £35 per week on the key (no other form of heating, sept a little gas (bottle) fire on ~sometimes) I have old style storage heaters. (money grabbers!)

In the warmer months (coming soon) .. I put about £15 a week on the key.

and I am such a numpty .. I don't know how to work out what to put down for my monthly electric costs...
    Can someone help me.

Some have been advised to put the worst cost down (that's what I did). So put £35 a week and if you have extra, save it for either emergencies or for full and final at the end of the DMP.

Don't forget, if you do get your figures wrong, you can ask for a review - it's not set in stone. So I would put down the higher figure and then in a year's time, if you have money saved up to cover winter time (I never seem to), then think about reducing it.

I agree with this! Put £35 down to be on the safe side.

also if i was you i'd put the price of the gas bottles down too if you can work that out! OR if it's really not that often and not that much that can at least be soaked up by the £35 electric cost i guess!

    Don't leave yourself short.

Seems a bit silly on MBNA's part tbh. I mean what difference should £1.50 make in the scheme of things. I think they were just trying their luck and testing you out to see if you'd give if pushed!

that seems weird about it being a private number! maybe it's a new tactic to get people to answer!
