    Hi all,

I've started my CCCS DMP now and my creditors have started to respond to my letters....thankfully the phone has been quiet so far (think this is down to putting my mobile as only contact number :o) )

Next Directory have been fine and accepted my payment straight away, review at 6 months. HSBC have done their usual sending of a letter saying they'll accept the reduced payment of £211 (its not, its £209 dumb a**!) if I go into a managed loan with them. Do I need to respond to this, or let CCCS know. I've heard a load of bad things about the managed loans, what do I do now? Are HSBC likely to start getting awkward with me from this point?

Sorry for so many questions, just want to make sure I sort my mess out properly without digging myself a bigger hole! x

Hi, CCCS told me that you cannot make individual arrangements with any of your creditors so you had best contact them to check re this managed loan thing before doing anything. Hope this helps.

Oops....I emailed CCCS thursday night to check when I will receive my welcome pack. They have emailed me this morning to confirm that it is on the way and creditor notifications have gone out and the plan has been set up to start in April.....I thought it was going to start in May and so was preparing letters and token payments! Luckily I didn't get time to do them all on Friday only did 3 out of 10 creditors but have put my start date as May! Am now going to write back and advise that this was a mistake and it is starting April. She did say that I don't have to write to them all now as they have done it but I think for clarity and to hopefully prevent any phone calls I am going to still send out the notification forms.

Have just spoken to cccs and she did say that I could delay the start until May if I had to but as the papers have already gone out would be better to get things started in April as it may cause further probs as they could kick up a stink saying I have broken the agreement already!

So not a huge disaster but I had made lots of plans for that money that I would be saving this month...but I suppose on the plus side this should mean that I don't get harrassed too badly this month as I was worried that they might kick off at me for making token payments of £50 as opposed to my min payments which total around £600!

Guess it is my fault for not noting on my cccs forms that I expect it to start in May but I didn't think they would have been this quick to get it started! I posted the forms and then 2 days later they had set everything up!

Going to have to be very strict now and save as much as poss as I am now without my emergency fund! I do still have an overdraft of £250 which obviously don't want to use but at least I have that in case of emergency - unless my bank decide to cancel it once I am in the dmp? I'm not sure if they would do that as it is due for review next year so don't know why they would suddenly cancel it??

If your bank is one of your creditors they will more than likely put a stop on your overdraft. Also you may want to set up an account elsewhere if you've not already done so, as this way they cannot try and take money that you owe to them but cannot afford to pay.

    Hello,

Received some good news this morning on the job front albeit it's a temporary role. The start date has yet to be confirmed by the agency and the length of the contract is unspecified.

I was wondering how this affects the situation with the DMP. For example if the duration of employment is very short term is it worth notifying Payplan or do I keep quiet and make an emergency fund?

Have you guys been in a similar situation regarding temporary employment?

  • Rainman thank you ever so much for your advice I do appreciate it!
I will send my c/cards a token payment this month. I think payplan will start a DMP at the beginning of may - I hope, just waiting on my 3rd call this week as to what they think is the best solution. I am still a bit unsure what to do with regards to my loans and my o/drafts with my banks, so going to ring payplan and ask them what they advice me to do.

Also I have seen a few people who are due or starting a DMP soon ask the same question and I would also like it explained, so if anyone could tell us:

    What is a CCA?

Why do you need to ask for it?

When do you need to ask for it?

    How to ask for one?

What advantage does it give you?

I would be grateful if anyone could shed a bit of light on this subject as it baffles me....lol.....many thanks

    Hi

I personally woudl keep quiet but sure someone on here will disagree with me if I am wrong;)

As you are not on a full time contract then I would think contributing to your emergency fund is more viable to you. You could ring the DMP people and dress it down saying you 'think' it will be just a few weeks then at least you have told them iykwim ;)

    Good luck

    BTW CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! POP

I'm feeling very proud of myself today, I've open a non Lloyds (my biggest creditor) business account, and a Natwest current account with no OD, I've called Lloyds to tell them I'm doing a DMP and sent them an offer letter, have also spoken to MBNA who wanted to do the SOA on the phone and they've accepted my minimum payment, and I've written to Capital One (bit scared about that one as I've heard they're not very helpful?) I think I may sleep well tonight knowing I've done my best and faced up to my problems!! Have also had a chat with my partner to let him know about my money problems (not in too much detail as he REALLY worries about money) and told my best friend so don't feel like I'm hiding things anymore -woohoo!

    OMG !!

Please can someone help - I just logged onto my Lloyds acct (that is going on DMP) and my 2 Lloyds credit cards have taken payments - £77 and £80!! I cancelled the DD and the transaction is called 'pay'.

Surely they can't do this? I wrote to them with details of my DMP and a £1 token payment
Payment is dated today - is there anything I can do? My salary got paid into my old account so I arranged a transfer which hasn't gone through yet.

    What can I do??!!!

Hi Biggles, when I spoke to National Debtline last week, the lady told me to open a non Lloyds bank account asap as they can legally take what they want out of your account if it's there and you owe it to them, so I really don't think there is anything you can do, although I'm new at this so I could be wrong. Hope you get it sorted. B.x

My experience of Capital One has been fine, so don't be scared of them. they were pushy on the phone and sent a lot of threatening letters, but once my DMP got underway they accepted and have been fine.

    Biggles,

Boo80 is correct, if you haven't paid them they can take what is in your current account. Lloyds threated me with this and they did actually point it out in their T's and C's - Didn't actually get them very far with me as I had an overdraft and they can't put you into higher debt on one account by using another.

Sorry, but I think that money is gone.
