Posted my form and statements to CCCS today.....is it normal to be this scared about getting things started or am I just being wussy??

Its perfectly normal - i was exactly the same - till i spent a few hours on here and i realised 3 things
    1) i'm taking control of my money, i'm no longer robbing peter to pay paul and then living off the bits that are left or worse the bits of credit that are left on credit cards
    2) i'm facing up to my debts in a responsible way and not running away from them - i'm paying what i can afford after i've paid for my shopping, mortgage water, gas etc - not the other way around like i was before
    3) my credit rating was pants anyway so it might as well be 'really' pants for a few years but at least we arent scraping round to pay the bills or buy food at the end of the month, we're actually enjoying being a family again and we know that we can afford the odd treat here and there

I still have the odd sleepless night thinking have we done the right thing, what about CCJ's CO's blah blah but not anywhere near as many - and the biggest thing on my mind at the end of the month now is shall we have curry or chinese as our treat for staying in budget.:T

If you are worried there are plenty more people on this board who will put your mind at rest - many who have been around a lot longer than me.

    Good luck xx

Hi again - Only one i'm afraid - Kays catalogue are part of Littlewoods and they have refused my DMP but the guy at CCCS i spoke to this evening said that Littlewoods are renowned for not immediately accepting DMP's but then they do a few months down the line.

Just realised we have 2 x Capital One cc's aswell.......OH's still being charged interest - mine, defaulted and no interest on March statement but no 'official' acceptance of DMP...so i guess that could mean anything!

    LOL:rotfl:

CCCS will send you a booklet anytime now along with a copy of your budget and a letter detailing your first payment - just call them and delay it if the date isnt suitable. You also get a transcash slip to make your first payment in cash at the PO but i just called them and set up my DD for 1st April - this stuff should be with you really soon.
They then send you your online paswword a few days later and you can view your creditors, balances and budget on line - i imagine once you have made your first payment there is even more stuff on line but i'm yet to see any of that yet.

Keep asking - its why we're all here....give it a few weeks and you'll be answering posts like me:T

    Evening all!

Regarding credit checks, it's a way of companies checking that you exist and have a credit history. If you applied for a CC (god forbid) and saw that you have a lot of defaults on CC payments, then they are unlikely to give you a card. If a mob phone company did the same check and saw that you've never missed a payment to Orange, then they may see you as being ok. It's all about risk I guess? A default doesn't mean you have the plague, just that you are a risk...

Regarding phonecalls about token payments and DMP letters. Whether you staple the two together or not, some spotty teenager (not typecasting here) probably receives all these payments, separates it from the letter and cashes it. The DMP letter then floats around different depts for several weeks till it ends up in the dead letter dept. Or it gets shredded. I find it very rare that a creditor immediately acknowledges the DMP. All they're phoning up for is to get more money from ya as you haven't paid them enough!

That is all. I'm gonna doze off now watching Transformers on DVD (again).

  • Hi all.
Can I ask what people's dealings have been with Natwest (currently known as "NastyWest" or NitwitWest" to me). They say they still haven't received any notification from the CCCS and are constantly pestering me with letters + phonecalls. CCCS have sent all the stuff off TWICE to them already so I really don't know what else to do!!
I'm always in the brown stuff (marmite)....only the depth varies!!! :rotfl:

Hi MM - CCCS sent my stuff off for n/w overdraf, cc and loan - both the cc and loan rejected within days - the cc has since accepted but the od has now rejected as well!

my understanding from reading on here is that NW generally take a few months of DMP payments before they accept.

Oddly, Crap west have not lifted an eyebrow over my DMP- I owe them shedloads on a business overdraft, however my business manager did-I found out after all this hit the fan- make loads of mistakes and I have lodged a complaint with them over him not acting on various instructions.
    I am with Payplan, they have warned me that many creditors deny having heard from DMP companies so I think you may find thats just a ploy on their part-I am sure since you posted this that you've sorted this one out but for anyone else reading, once you've given details of who is managing the DMP, and given them a reference number- you really dont have to keep taking harrassing calls, or answer their letters- let's face it- the banks are in sufficient do do for us to know they can't even manage their own business- so you've got two issues there;
1- gross inefficiency and a lack of ability to employ competent staff, and

2- a flippin obvious tactic of "never seeing correspondence about your DMP".

I am learning- slowly, just how these companies operate.

    all the best

cheesy- DMP #288, LBM Jan 09- DMP for way too long but I am thinking entrepreneurial thoughts!
now debt free and determined to maintain good spending habits and build savings
