    Hi all,

Am in the process of setting up my dmp (due to start May 1st) and have had 2 letters through today:

One from NR acknowledging my token payment and letter but not accepting it as a reduced payment and still asking for my normal monthly payment until they have accepted a reduced one.

Another one from RMA - getting calls from them too - but ignoring those - asking about payment for my A&L CC.
I know they have received my letter and token payment because the cheque has been cashed.

Is this normal? Should I do anything specific? Am planning to send out my dmp notification letters and will be sending token payments for April at the end of the month.

Posting this again as the thread has moved on a bit and I know sometimes questions get accidentally missed - any advice anyone? Many thanks

    Jen x

Hiya all, how are we all doing?
    Good i hope?
Not been on for a few day...been putting together a household bible, which is one book where everything importmant is kept, phone numbers, adresess, birthdays, budget, passwords and account details, lists of meals we all like ect ect ect.
The idea behind it is no matter who rings i have everything in one place, also if ever there was an emergency i have 1 thing to grab and get out the house, or if god forbid anything happened to me my hubby who doesnt deal with anything to do with money lol...will have all the details in one place.

It is very theroputic putting one together, makes you feel in control...if any of you are having a bad day try it....really makes you feel like you have achived something possitive! And is handy next time the creditors phone!

Have recived letters for nearly all my creditors saying they are happy with payplans new payments and confirming they have recived the first payment via them...so happy days again at the minute. Long may the continue!

    Catch you all later

    Hi Jen,

Yes it's normal at the start of a DMP. In my experience it takes 2 - 3 months for things to settle down. Get the notification letters to them so they know about the DMP and continue with token payments until it's set up and running.

    Donna

That's a really good idea, had never thought of doing that. The amount of time I spend looking for all that information would be much better invested in putting it all in one place! Glad the DMP seems to be running smoothly.

Hi Jen this is normal, they will keep trying to get more money until the DMP is up and running.
Just do as you intended and send tokens for April, and if you do answer the phone just reiterate your DMP is in the process of being set up and hang up.
Don't be bullied into agreeing to pay more no matter what they say.

OH had a postcard with a lovely picture of flowers on the front yesterday(honestly), and on the back it said "I confirm I will be calling you week commencing 9.3.09, if inconvenient please call such a number".
In very very tiny print it's got the MBNA adress printed on it:rolleyes:
They are so sneaky and underhand its actually laughable, they are just trying to scare us into phoning them, by making out they are going to call at the house.
I know very well that if we were to phone them they will say that by "call" they meant they were going to phone us!

Kudox that funny Oh received one of these cards from MBNA too today, so its a bluff they dont really send anyone round then? I must admit I went into a bit of a flap when I seen it the thought of someone coming round, gives you visions of baliffs. What do you say to them if they did turn up?

I also got a lovely letter from MBNA with no mention of my letter or token pyt, just saying how I haven't cleared my arrears and if I receive a default I wont be able to buy a new car of gain new employment. I am touched they are so concerned;)

Its amazing isnt it how these jokers just totally ignore the fact that we have tried to make inroads on our debt by entering into a DMP, and they continue to send out letters every other day saying the same old S***e!!

Donna- your Home Bible sounds great- what did you use? where did you get the idea?? Has give me ideas now, would take my mind off my debt for a while:p

I sorta feel sorry for my creditors in a way...

Thing is, to them we're just another person who hasn't paid their minimum payment on time, so the computer sends out a letter, or card or whatever, depending on how far along we are.

I tried to imagine at the beginning that they had no idea what I was doing, all they knew is that I hadn't given them enough money. 5 months on and Nationwide (I had a 400 OD with them) are still adding their £20 charge + interest for going over my OD. They still refuse to acknowledge my DMP, and for all I know they don't have the information they require. So all I can do is to ask PayPlan to send my SOA and LOA to them (again) and hope for the best. Yes they're adding charges all the time, but I don't really care at the moment as I intend to claim that back in the future, or worry about it at the end...

As for the phonecalls, again it's all automated, and people are paid to let a computer decide who to speak to next, and are probably on a bonus for any money they manage to get back from us. I couldn't do it as a job (I'd probably try to help people and be more understanding, as some are), but it is a job, and someone has to do it!

    Hi cheesypuff,
Lets put it this way the card arrived yesterday afternoon, separate from the other mail in the morning, and I've only been out since then for about an hour since then and they've not arrived yet:rolleyes:
IF and thats a very big if in my opinion, well Iwouldn't be offering tea and biscuits lets put it like that, in fact I don't think I'm allowed to say on here exactly what I would say:rotfl:
They're just a bunch of jokers, but the card was very pretty:D

:rotfl: :rotfl: Kudox. No tea and biscuits here either I am afraid.

Feel the need to scream I am just off the phone with MBNA and spoke to a real smart guy!! Who wanted to know all the in's and outs of my debts and how much I was gonna be paying CCCS. He then wanted to know if I would like to back out of my CCCS DMP as I havent paid them yet and go onto his plan.

I then has to tell him I would not be backing out of CCCS and that was all I had to say and hung up. Total waste of time trying to communicate with these monkeys they dont listen to a word you say.

Am off to watch poor Jades wedding on telly and calm down and remind myself that compared to having your health debts are nothing

HI ianmak, in fact the MBNA card was handwritten, not computer generated at all, and not in an envelope, so the information on it was there for all to see.
Whoever does see it knows what its about because who gets a call from a credit card company if they're not in arrears thats worse as far as I can see.

Someone has the job of actually writing all that C**p out, which I suppose makes me feel a bit better:D
