I received my first letter from CCCS yesterday telling me what to do next. I've cancelled all direct debits and now have a new bank account
The next thing I have to do is send all my creditors a token payment along with the form CCCS give you to fill out, should I put a cover letter in with this and should I ask them all for my current balance? I have the balance's for all my CC's but don't have the current balance for the loans. I also don't have any current letters from any of my creditors due to hiding away from the problem and binning them! I'm due statements for my CC's so I can send them to the CCCS but I don't have anything for my loans, can I send copies of my original agreements?
I'm really scared about what I'm gonna get in the post over the next few weeks! :eek:Do what you want because in the end people will judge you anyway.0 -

I have seen a template letter flying around somewhere but am struggling to find it, can you point me in the right direction pls? Also, is it the same letter for cc's as loans?
MD xx
Yes its the same letter for loans & credit cards as both are covered under sections 77-79 of the act.
This letter from the national debtline is fine:

Hi all,
Quick question - should I send a seperate letter with my DMP notification letter to creditors explaining the token payment. if so does anyone have a template?
Thanks
Jon
Hi ad1jnl,
I don't know if this letter is any good to you, but it's the one I sent out when I was setting the plan up. Obviously you can modify to suit yourself.
Dear Sir or Madam,
Re:-
I am writing to inform you that I am in the process of setting up a free debt management plan with the assistance of CCCS/Payplan.
I have been informed that it may take several weeks for the plan to be setup so I would like to request that you freeze interest and/or any other charges accruing on the above account.
In the meantime, please find enclosed a token payment of £? to be credited to this account as a token of my good will.
Thank you for your understanding in this matter.
Please await further details from our debt management provider in due course.
Yours faithfully,:j DMP mutual support thread member - 135:j0 -

Hello, can anyone give me advice. I am with cccs at moment, but last month had to reduce dmp payment and again this month due to expensive car repairs. Now starting to get letters and phone calls again from creditors,(Lloyds especially!!!!) will it all settle down again? I am re adjusting my budget with cccs so can have some surplus for emergencies. Can anyone give me any reassurance please!! am feeling really fed up, dont they realise im trying to sort my debt out and dont not want to pay them, just need some breathing space!!!!0

I'm just starting out with my DMP and I'm really scared about the level of harrassment I'll probably get. I really don't cope well with calls and letters, so not looking forward to it.
I hope it settles down for you. I know we all got ourselves into our financial mess but these companies should be a bit more sympathetic especially since we are actually still paying the debt, even if does take longer. Good luck!Do what you want because in the end people will judge you anyway.0 -
salstar, im not quite as far in as yourself with the DMP, but i'm sure the creditors will die down with the calls again. Maybe write to them re: phonecalls? Don't let it get you down we are all in this together
keep your head up!

Just the letter giving notice of DMP goes to the creditor. If they want anything else, they can ask CCCS for itworking on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0 -

It will settle again. When I made a one off reduced payment due to car costs - cccs suggested I ring round and tell them all before hand and let them know it was a one off and would all return to normal. Apparently cccs include a note when they send payment but it can be missed by the creditor since the creditors are often paid with one HUGE bulk cheque for all of the cccs DMP payments
The only one who complained was first direct - and they soon shut up after I told them I'd informed them. So maybe just ring them, explain why this month is reduced and that next month will return to normal - they are probably just worried that it will carry on reduced.working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0
