Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker Debt-free and Proud!
we did our weekly shop last night. with a food budget of £110 for 3 people, we struggled to spend £80 on essentials and a few not so essentials.
We have a cupboard full of tinned food at home (not all budget brands, but food we actually like!) and we have been able to "bank" £30. One of our cars needs a service this week, so that £30 added to the savings we have made last month has already paid for it.
In speaking to my husband on the way home we couldnt believe how we used to spend over £100 per shopping trip, and still have to pop back to get more half way through the week.

Also, a quick update. None of our creditors have accepted the FnF offers we made so we have decided to let the DMP run its course and keep the extra cash for a few months.

MBNA called every day last week and were greated with a jolly smile and a very co-operative husband. in the end, they have acknowledged that they are happy with the DMP,and seem to be accepting the fact they are not going to get the 2 missed payments, but settled for £151. (£110 of that was a payment through Payplan anyway) and the extra we havnt missed because of Feb's haircut, prescription and petfood allocation).
They have agreed that if they recieve this money by the end of the week, the calls will stop (Harrassment letter prepared and will be posted should this not happen).

on a lighter note, Hubby has just recieved notice of last years bonus, to be paid 01/04/09. Its only £1200 but that is a family holiday and a months overpayment on the DMP taken care of..

Now to find somewhere hot & cheap !!!

  • Can I just ask - are you doing a self administered DMP for this? My OH is self-employed too and it's been impossible to get all the info needed for a CCCS DMP. Would love to know if/when you have any success. Am finding it all a bit of a nightmare at the mo :o

    Hi everyone,

I have to say that I've been an observer on this forum for a while and beacase of you guys I have finally taken the plunge to call cccs and sort out a dmp. Although I'm still waiting to receive the pack through the post and nothing has actually happened yet I am already feeling better and sleeping better at night! So, to the point- I've tried to search for the answer to this question in the forum but haven't had much luck. What does cccs ask you to send to them so that they can set you up a dmp? I just wanted to get a head start in gathering all the bits and pieces together. Any help greatly appreciated! :o
  • Hi! Well dome for posting! You need proof of income, payslips etc and balances of debts and who they are with and account numbers.

CCCS only ask for one payslip - I sent a copy. They just want to check your income is what you put down I think

    morning all,

Seems evenings is the time to come on here! I've missed it all again!

My hubby is kinda selfemplyed too (this is the problem i alluded to but didn't wnat to go into yesterday) and I put a figure down for his wages as a minimum and Payplan never asked for evidence!! They just believed me! However this now concerns me coz he thinks I shouldn't have put it on at all now and I don't think I can take it off now!

Phonecalls and letters have slowed for me too! Eerily quiet! haven't had answers from all either! Bit worried about my old account (natwest) regards this spending still lark! I've used it twice in the last month whilst the od being on the dmp. Once was by accident (paypal payment, obviously didn't check default account and it came out the wrong one) and once coz my other card didn't work and i didn't know what to do! only small payments (£1.08 and £2.27) but do you think this will upset natwest and possibly ruin my chances of them being reasonable?

Can't remember who asked about changing payment for payments you've forgotten to add but my electricity billl went up after agreeing my expenditure plan and they changed it for me no problem! before they get sent off to the creditors is best time to change it!! it needs to be as realistic as possible!

Know what you mean about having a life. our budgets are so tight i'm debating what to do this sat! was supposed to go out for meal with colleagues but it's in london and hubby is home and i feel like i should be spending that money with him instead! also got Ask 2 for 1 vouchers i was hoping to use while he was back! But really don't think i can do both! Argh, i hate being skint and on a budget! and i really want to actualy manage my budget this month!

Haven't got everything neatly filed yet!! But I think maybe i will!! Another job for next weekend when i won't be going out and will be attempting to tackle my pile of stuff destined for ebay maybe!

    Hi and welcome mrlplates!

I'm doing 2 race for lifes dlb coz i didn't do any last year! where you doing it? They are great! very emotional tho! at least i find they are but then I'm a sap!!!

  • cccs requires a payslip to make sure you arent underestimating your income i think.

  • Thanks for the replies, the payslip thing is obviously fine. The balances of each debt is what I need to get moving on. Can I just call up and ask for my balance and tell cccs or do I need to send a letter and get something in writing? Are there any templates for this? Thanks again
  • hi, i just called my creditors for an up to date balance and told cccs.
