I think it goes like that and to a certain extent always will while I'm in debt.
Just after christmas I had a really rubbish time, OH had no work and I literally had no money left only about a week after being paid, and somehow lasted three weeks without money.
Its swings and roundabouts I think and you learn to deal with it.
When I think back to how I was a year ago, well I'm like a different person and have finally started to have some sort of life again.
This site has been my life line and I know thats true for so many others, the support is amazing, and I'll be here for the duration I'm sure.:j

Hope no matter how down you feel in the real world, there will always be people on here to support and advise you xxx ;) it is hard to feel happy when you have the debt cloud hanging over you but it will get better. I have cried so many times over our situation.

It does get easier, honest ;)

    Thanks TP,

    Feeling much better..sure I will have a better sleep tonight.....nighty night all!!:A
  • I think our dfd is 2023!

Hopefully with ppi reclaims it will come down a bit but it won't come down to 2-3 years, I'll still be around for a good while yet. Is that something to be proud of? :o or :D:confused:

One thing for sure is I have changed my way of thinking towards money, yes its great when you got it and all the things you can do with it but it makes you realise where you have been going wrong all this time.

We have been together just over 13 years and we have never had savings in the bank, never :o we didn't need to because we always had catalogues for clothes, household goods, credit cards for cash for holidays and food etc.

Now its like we NEED something behind us, we want something behind us in case of rainy days and because we can no longer rely on credit.

I had a new catalogue come through the other day and I was just browsing at the clothes (they all look lovely on the tall slim models  ) and I looked at the price and thought I cannot believe I used to pay that for that!.

Kudox,RBS are my biggest worry. My current a/c is with them and a 23 grand loan plus 600 OD. I do wonder how they'll react-they won't know until my salary doesn't go in at the end of March and I send a token payment plus letter as have paid this month's in full-but am just crossing my fingers. Do occasionally have the odd sweat re charging order etc but hey ho will just have to wait and see..To be honest, they have been guilty of some serious mis-selling and am ready for them if they start. Probably others on here who will know how they react but good luck x

OH and me have a £30k loan and an overdraft which was £150 but due to interest and charges is now about £250! Although they sent letters saying they accepted the payment through Payplan, they still issued Court papers. I argued with them as they had agreed to the arrangement and they discontinued the claim but said they will probably do the same thing in 6 months.

I rang the FOS and have made a complaint about them not following the Banking Code - they were not sympathetic when we tried to contact them to inform them of our problems and I feel they are irresponsible lenders as everytime we contacted them their answer was to throw more money at us. I'm not saying we were totally blameless cos we accepted it but they made it so easy. I don't suppose it will get me anywhere but it's made me feel better!

We will pay this debt back at a rate we can afford and if its not fast enough for RBS then tough!

Have been busy trying to sort out a payment plan with OH creditors since his finances are very complicated due to being self employed.
Can I just ask - are you doing a self administered DMP for this? My OH is self-employed too and it's been impossible to get all the info needed for a CCCS DMP. Would love to know if/when you have any success. Am finding it all a bit of a nightmare at the mo :o

Morning all, got a statement from my mint loan - first one since the default 18 months ago. They say they have to issue a statement every 6 months - anyway it says I owe 37p less than I thought I did :rotfl: Every little helps I suppose ;)

I worked out if things carry on, that by December 2012 I will only owe just under £2k so if I can save £1k by then, I should be able to make full and final offers - suddenly found an incentive to save rather than spend all the budget :o

Got a letter from Nationwide as I'm opening a cash card savings account to try and put my car tax/mot money a bit out of reach. Internet banking and faster payments makes life a bit too easy to just shuffle money about and spend it on food etc :o

The separate accounts thing is working well for my prepay gas and electric money, which hopefully will start to increase sat in the bank over the warmer weather, if we get some  So I'm trying the car money next. Standing order into the account and only taking out for car tax and mot (due in May so somewhat late starting this one :o).

Then hopefully I can get sorted with saving some money ready for 2012

Still I've worked out when CCCS forward the payments on to creditors at the end of this month - I'll have paid off exactly 33.3% of my debt!!! 1/3 down, 2/3 to go ;) Suddenly I feel like I'm really going to get there!!
