DMP Mutual Support Thread (Part 5)

I avoided the fish n chips shop today on my way home from work (an old flame - we're just occasional friends now...), was very proud of that, and made my own instead.
Regarding spending, I had a conversation with MBNA a few months ago about my spending. She queried the 500 quid I'd withdrawn amongst other things and I just told her I'd bought a car with it (Which I had!).
The reasons for my spending is the usual living beyond my means slightly, and also the increased cost of living. Not the best of excuses but what else could I say?DMP mutual support thread No: 2430 -

Although it is slightly quieter on here tonight. I seem to spend quite a bit of time on here because its free! My main hobby used to be shopping but obviously that is a complete no no now!:D
I really need to get a life.... wonder if I can buy one cheaply on eBay? :rotfl:Light Bulb Moment 4th January 2009 :eek:Started DMP 1st April 2009 :ADMP mutual support thread member: 267 :j0 -
I have to say im worried about Loyds tsb refusing the DMP due to them being my bank and knowing exactly what i have spent my money on, ie clothes, MAC make up, holidays etc etc etc, Can they hold my spending against me? as they have the inside info on where all my money actually goes???
Obviously since i had my lightbulb moment 1 month ago i have calmed down a lot!!proud to be facing debts of 16000k
will be debt free in 3 years 9 months:beer:
Nothing is too scary now!!!!!!

I used separation and divorce leading to associated issues of living with only one income, or words to that effect as my reason. Kind of true. It's taken me 3 hard years of living beyond my means to get to my light bulb moment!Smober since 05/12/2008 :j
Proud to be dealing with my debts! :idea:Final LBM (when I actually took the bull by the horns!) 30/12/2008

Evening all!
I am getting desperate you know  I really look forward to coming home from work just to see what post we have got. I actually look forward to the post now (ppi reclaims to look forward to)
Anyone had trouble with contacting HFC bank and Littlewoods? I sent letters using signed for delivery to them on the 18th Feb and they still showing as being collected at the post office I sent them from using the track and trace system. I NEED this letters to arrive as they were follow up letters for the ppi claims.
HFC Bank has 3 addresses in Birmingham and Littlewoods are in Liverpool but I'm still waiting for them to show as delivered  I emailed Post office customer service and they said they would contact me within 5 days, guess what? no one ever came back to me. Tried to speak to someone from the Post Office customer service at work today but was kept waiting for so long as 'all their operators are busy at the minute' grr don't you just hate that sarcastic automated female voice! As I was at work I had to put the phone down but just wondered if anyone had trouble contacting these two companies?DMP support thread member 211 :cool:I'm only here to get some medals......honest!0 -
HopeTRMD If you answer the phone to explain the situation they will generally put the calls on hold till the plan is up and running (or at least for a few days). I know this won't suit some people, but it's the truth. Just don't give them any money other than the token payments you've made.
.
Thanks Ianmak for the advice. You are right…I will try and pluck up the courage on one of my good days to answer one creditor and see what response I get before I tackle any of the others.
Hope

Stolli,me too! Went online this morning to sort out cancelling DDs etc and just sneaked on to see if anyone was around, sooo addictive! Or are we just the sad single mums club?! :j
Been sorting out my "debt file "this evening, turning into geek as I hole punched and file divided like a mad thing, feel quite a sense of achievement that I am actually taking control of my finances for the first time in ages, instead of running away at olympic speed..even sent an uncashed cheque off to my new a/c to get something in there-grand sum of £3.30!! Rang tax credits and child benefit to change a/cs and can't wait for this month's child benefit to go in and see my bank a/c in credit, bliss after months-years?-of being OD.
Someone auctioned their life last year on ebay I think but was about 200 grand so think we all staying put;)DMP Mutual Support Thread member no.2490 -

I think most can fully understand where you are coming from, it does get obsessive doesn't it? But then if we had people to chat to in real life about DMP's and debt there would be no use for this forum and you wouldn't laugh at your computer by things typed by strangers with daft names
I find it relaxing coming on here and reading what others are up to, I like to read the daily updates on how people are adjusting and coping with their creditors.
I'm sure it annoys OH though but at least he knows I'm not on 'Looking for Love' chat sites :rotfl: , we are in the same room, he just isn't in to computers. He gets to watch football in peace while I'm tapping away on here.DMP support thread member 211 :cool:I'm only here to get some medals......honest!0 -
Penny39 that made me laugh! I don't think I'll be bothering with a life for a while if it costs that much!
I've turned into a filing geek as well. I have a lovely lever arch file I bought in WH Smith sale. I've got file dividers in there and all my most recent statements (the ones I didn't shred because I didn't want the reminder of how much I owed) are filed in there along with all my other correspondance. How neat and tidy it all is! lol
Quite a contract from the days when they were shoved in a drawer until I could pay them at the last minute and then shred them as then I didn't have to admit their existence...Light Bulb Moment 4th January 2009 :eek:Started DMP 1st April 2009 :ADMP mutual support thread member: 267 :j0 -
Hi Penny,
I thought I was bad...but looks like I have competition!!...My concertina file contains my creditors in alphabetical order!!! Finally sorted it all out. I must say here is something satisfying about filing the numerous letters away..adds abit of order to my life..:D0
