Hi Donna, it takes about 5 days. Payplan are livesavers, well done for swapping over!0

To answer your question Daffy, I am just so ashamed of the amount of debt I owe and my stupidity in getting into such a mess, that I would feel such a failure admitting it. She is a good friend and the renting/lodging is an informal arrangement - no legal contract as such - and I've been living here for 18 months. It works really well and I pay £500 monthly which is inclusive off all bills (including Sky TV) so I get a pretty good deal.
I'm pretty sure she wouldn't ask me to move out although I have wondered about whether I should consider a house-share with people I don't know, as it is easier to keep stuff private. However, I don't think I would pass the credit check that new landlords do, so I am probably better off staying put.
Sorry for the ramble, feel quite stressed out about things financially at the moment - as much as I know its a good thing I am doing, I am very wound up about it all!:o
That's fair enough jenevieve!! Those are very similar feelings to what I had (and on bad days still have)! I didn't tell anyone about the debt for ages! It's quite strange how my feelings have changed towards telling people! I was even discussing it with my parents this weekend and I'd tried to avoid that in the past! Didn't want them seeing me as the failure I sometimes see myself! But I really feel now like I'm actually doing something towards sorting it out now! So I do feel quite proud of myself for that! I feel like in the last few months I've finally grown up (I'm 32 hehe!)! I'm still annoyed at myself for getting into the situation in the first place but I can't do anything about that now! It's done and it's time to sort it! So I understand exactly how you feel, I've shed a LOT of tears over the whole thing and I'm sure i have more to shed on bad days! It's definitely a good thing you're doing and it will get easier!!
Oh and Hi Emmylou!
had a bit of a bad day today! Yesterday I had some stresses about my husbands job! Don't really want to go into it here coz I need to speak to him about it first! And i didn't mean to ask him about it over the phone but I did coz it was on my mind and ended up p1ssing him off and having a sort of arguement!
So that's still stressing me out! Then had a power cut this morning, and !!!!!! day at work!
Plus this morning I discovered a paypal payment has come out of my old bank instead of my new (probably my fault for not checking the default account) which is already over the od so I'll probably get charged AGAIN! Also, i got charged in my new account and I thought it was the charge they said i wouldn't get if i paid money in quick enough! but it's not! anyway the lady i spoke to has taken the charge off! BUT said i won't be able to argue any other charges in the next 12 months! eek! and this one was legit i think! anyway we shall see!
anyway today has just knocked me a little bit and i'm not feeling great! sure things will be ok. hubby is coming home tonight (well if he doesnt' get snowed in that is! another worry) so that's good! and my brother came home from travelling yesterday and i had a lovely evening with my family and his new girlfriend!
Sorry i've gone on again! hope you're all doing well! off to catch up with the other pages of posts I've missed!DMP Mutual Support Thread Member No 261Debt at start of DMP (Jan 2009) = 46,147.86 Now = 36,826.98DFD = [STRIKE]Jan 2014[/STRIKE] May 2013 ([strike]60[/strike] [STRIKE]52[/STRIKE] 41 payments to go)NSD:Nov 12/12:jDec 9/10 Jan 5/10Slowly but surely:coffee:0 -
My goodness, a couple of days without logging into the thread and the place went mad :rotfl: . I've completely lost track of all the new folk so welcome to you all
and well done Ian for taking on the number dishing out :T .
I just want to reassure those of you with big debts, we started our DMP with £100,400 paying £1,200 a month. A couple of creditors mentioned that as long as you are paying 1% of the balance they will accept. We're now 18 months in with a balance of £78,000 and totally quiet creditors, the only contact I have is a monthly statement from some of them but some have even stopped sending that. I bet I've jinxed that now  .
DLB, our payment to Payplan leaves on the 1st, reaches Payplan on 7th/8th and is normally with the creditors by the 15th.
Good luck to you all starting out, it's honestly the best thing you can do. Proud to be dealing with our debts pretty much sums it up.

Sam,

Now I'm worried as we won't be offering 1% of the balance, does that mean that they WON'T accept the offers from CCCS?
In fact , unless I've worked it out wrong, our CONTARTUAL payments to our loans were only 1%!!

Sorry MD, I was trying to reassure, not increase the worry.
The creditors that said that to me were First Direct and GE Money. I don't know if others have rules on the percentage. But quite simply so long as you're paying something I'm sure they will accept, they can't have what you haven't got.
I shall scurry off now and bite my tongue.

Please dont worry what % or amount each crediotr will recive via the dmp because.....
the payment they will recive IS WHAT YOU CAN AFFORD nothing more and nothing less, if they are not happy with this, then they will have to take further action.....they will be very reluctant to do this as a court would ask for a financial statment which will be the same as the creditors already have recived from your dmp company and the courts will see you are paying what you can in line with goverment guildline for living needs.
The dmp is there to give you back your daily life, so you can eat, and enjoy your life whilst keeping the crediotrs happy.
It is so hard in the beginning to see how payments are worked out, worry about if they accept.......take 5 mins..chill...have a cuppa.....and relax....you have done the hardest part by signing upto a dmp now sit back and watch it all fall into place...because it will do i promise
