Biggles, have been having the same dilemma. New bank mandate sat propped up in kitchen as it says they will transfer all DDs and I can tick "close account"or "leave open". Unsure what to do as have OD with current bank plus my biggest debt-loan-and worried they will suspect something up when new bank ask for all DD details. Have decided that will cancel all DDs myself on old a/c and just contact all the companies to get them set up on new a/c-that way, I can send cheques to cover if needs be before set up. Bit of a pain but at least it removes my worry;think the offer to transfer everything is just to make life easier for us-and would be in "normal" circs!!-but don't have to take them up on the offer.. Not sure what others have done but seemed the best way forward to me x

I was just about to suggest this myself. I did all mine manually, phoned most of the companies up who were really helpful and suggested that it may take a couple of weeks for the changes to go though, then cancelled all my DDs straight after. Had a couple of hiccups, but there you go. I had to keep the old account open though due to be overloaded overdraft.

Thats the way i did it...and if you are prepared it doesnt take long...get a list of all companys along with their phone numbers and dates you wish to set dd from new account.
Then find half hour to ring them all and tick off as you go along, takes about 5 mins to each one.
