Beth - (((hugs))) to you for being ill and for your DH not spending enough money to get the £20 back - I'd have been hopping mad.
We've had an update on LO and she is definitely over the worst and should be home by Christmas, if not sooner. The care she has had has been excellent and they've really pulled her through something that looked pretty hopeless. Obviously, we're all thrilled and I am so grateful to you all for all your good wishes, thoughts and prayers. Thank you, all.
Hockeyduo - my DH used to work on the rigs out of Great Yarmouth and it always messed up Christmas and many other occasions, too. I was so glad when he stopped and we moved away from the area. I hope you can celebrate when he returns.
Well, I still haven't done the ironing but I've washed the kitchen floor and dusted and hoovered downstairs. Then I phoned my Mum and now I am definitely doing the ironing!
Hope everyone is having this lovely weather - it's still cold but the sun is beaming and the skies are blue and cloudless. Let's hope it lasts.

Good luck, hope your cold clears up so you can enjoy yourself at B'water tomorrow.
HockeyDuo - So sorry to hear your DH is away for Christmas and New Year (((HUGS))
bargainbird- HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!:bdaycake:
((((HUGS)))) to all who are ill or coping with ill family members! What a lot of poorlies there are atm!
Our DGS2yo has a high temp but no other symptoms. He did this a lot when he was younger! So I don't know if he's been able to go to Nursery today. if not, DD will have had to take the day off work. The children have been ill so often since going to Nursery that DSIL has no more holiday days left, apart from what he'd luckily already booked for next week, until his new leave year starts in June.(It's easier for him to take time off at short notice than for DD who's a Community Paediatric Nurse and has visits booked in in advance.) They just pick up every bug that's doing the rounds!:( I suppose that at least they should have built up some immunity by the time they start school:rolleyes:
mioliere - great news re LO!
Oh well, better go now and decide what to do today. The first thing wil be a trip to the baker's and paper shop, I think. Then must, must, must get cards written!
Best wishes
ivyleaf xx0 -
Happy Birthday bargainbird!
*huggles* to all thos who are poorly or looking after people who are poorly
Mioliere, really good news about the lo
Right, off to play with the cat for a bit coz she's gone a bit mad, then finishing cards to send (I'm so disorganised with cards this year) then off to the shops for some supplies and one more little pressie. Oh, must get washing out on radiators and airer and put another load in too. I can't believe how much washing me and my OH generate, there's only two of us!
It's my sisters 21st birthday today, first time I haven't seen her on her bday that I can remember. I gave her a quick call this morning and might get five mins chat with her later before she goes out but it's not quite the same. Never mind though, she is travelling north on Sat and will be staying at mine on Sun, yay! :j
I half don't want to leave the house in case I catch any of the nasty bugs that seem to be going around! Still, OH works in a call centre and they are notorious for diseases spreading and we haven't got anything really nasty yet this year so fingers crossed. My immune system has been a bit low the last few months so hoping that it has started to recover with all of the good homecooked meals I've been eating, they're mostly just different combinations of vegetables so can't be too bad!
Take care and keep warm all, extra *huggles* to those who want/need them0 -
Good morning All,
Very happy belated birthdays to diva :bdaycake: and nelski :bdaycake:
Happy birthday bargain bird :bdaycake: Enjoy your day!
JackieO When my children were small, I used an old shower curtain for painting and messy activities. There is a shop that has felt backed vinyl and sell very cheaply by the meter. http://www.justwipe.co.uk/acatalog/Special_Offer_Blue_Vinyl.html Hope this helps.
((((((((((((((Hugs)))))))))))))))) to all who are poorly, caring for the poorly and whoever else wants one. :grouphug:
Vicky, sending good and positive thoughts your mum's way.
Feeling rather chuffed with myself this morning. After the first cup of coffee, I put on a small pot of potato soup with onions and celery for DH to take for lunch today. I tossed in a bit of leftover cooked bacon and some grated cheese too. Mmmmmmm! Was going to have the rest for my lunch but had it for breakfast instead. :rotfl:
Fed DH a breakfast of egg and toast before he left for work. I think I may finally be getting him in the habit of eating a lil something in the morning. Packed his soup and sandwich up for his lunch and tossed in a HM brownie with coconut I made yesterday.
Put on a small pot of chili for our tea tonight. Not sure what's for afters tonight but will rummage around in a bit and figure something out. I can always put a bit of raspberry jam or something on top a brownie for DH. As long as I pour cream on it, he's happy.
I was planning to go to the laundrette and wash a load of clothes this morning as the weather is ok to hang them outside for a while. I've not made it there yet and at this point, probably won't until tomorrow.
The kitchen is clean and I need to finish up the tidying and then hoover. I usually scrub down the bathroom properly on Thursdays but think I will today instead. Behind on the laundry, ahead on the cleaning. It all balances out.
I need to do the cards for the others in our block of flats. It's a small building with only 8 flats in it so it won't take long to do at all. After that, I need to do my daily clicks at the cashback sites. I've not gotten to them in several days just messing around and want to get back on track.
Have a good day all, will check in later. Leaving you with this thought...

DH scoffing pea soup made in the slow cooker to make up forthe shock he got when he answered the door to the delivery from approved foods.
The box is Huge!!!!!!!!
Packed stuff away and DD threatening to help me organise the cupboards while she is home.
DH is about to give me a lift to get DD a new bedroom lamp and a few emergency presents for her friends at school- they have to be "gifts" and nice - none of them can be the same and she does not know exactly what she wants. This should be fun!!!!!
Hugs to everyone feeling poorly and see you later."This site is addictive!"

(((hugs))) to all the poorlies
Diva royal variety performance is on tonight ( i think) and I believe Mr Barrowman is performing
hope everyone is ok0 -
Kathy, what fantastic news about the little one
Everyone must be so relieved - the best Xmas present they could have I imagine.
Despite feeling utterly horrendous I made blackberry muffins earlier.... My mum had poppped down & then while she went to pick up my youngest (school phoned to say she had been sick...!) I knew I needed to eat something, didn't know what & then thought they were quick & easy to make.
So something OS for the first time in several days....Live your life until love is found, or love's gonna get you down" (credit to Mika!)0 -
Beth - hope you feel better soon, your poor dh, bet you spend most of the time telling him to give the supermarkets as little money as possible!
Reverbe - meant to say yesterday, the Money Programme on Radio 4 this week was about redundancies and entitlements and legal responsibilities, might be worth a listen if you can on the internet.
Jackie - our JL sell oilcloth as does our Dunelm. Good luck with the moski hunting, I don't have the recipe book, there are lots on the website that you can click on when you look at them on the Lakeland website, there are also lots of ideas on the remoska thread, basically I treat mine like a mini oven though, and just cook as normal, though as it has a lid things don't dry out as much, so I find that my cake mixtures need to be a bit stiffer.
Kathy - what fabulous news about lo! I'm so pleased for all of you.
Well, I had to run over to dd1's school and collect her, she got off the bus and was promptly sick! She managed to hang on whilst I paid for ds's trip!
Got home and settled her and sorted out the other poorlies, dd2 is desperate to be well as it is their year trip to the cinema tomorrow, they do that instead of a party as at 11 they're all far too grown up for school parties! But she's fallen asleep again, so I don't think she'll be going, I'm going to be the big bad wolf having to tell her!
On the plus side, as they're all so quiet I've been able to bake dozen of muffins and hobnobs, will freeze some so we have a supply over Christmas. Need to get them cooled and away quick before my friend arrives and vanishes with a selection of them! Also made several lots of rolls in moski, they do look lovely in their little circles! Will freeze some of them ready for the next week or so.
Right, still haven't managed to do my hair yet, so off to sort that out now! Have a good day all, I'm off to w**k tonight, but off tomorrow as it's our village carols in the barn service, it's lovely! xxGC Oct £387.69/£400, GC Nov £312.58/£400, GC Dec £111.87/£4000 -
