Happy Birthday, Bargainbird - have a great day!
Jackie0 - I echo what Mummysaver says about the Remoska - I have the standard (middle-sized one) because there's just the two of us now, and I use it almost every day. The lid is heavy; I have tendonitis in both hands and didn't think I could cope with it, but I've got used to it. Mummysaver's advice to try the lids is excellent. I definitely would not want to be without mine now and I hardly use my main oven!
Well, I was up so early this morning (and yesterday, the same - brain working overtime) so, once DH had left for work, I cleared up the breakfast things, cleaned the bathroom and lay down on the sofa for an hour, because I couldn't keep my eyes open. I feel much more awake now and ready to tackle the mountain of ironing. I shall be busy all morning and may well treat myself to an afternoon nap, too!
I'm so sorry that so many of you are poorly or are nursing poorly people. I was ill three times last year, the last dose being right over Christmas so you all have my sympathy. With luck, those who are ill now will be better by Christmas!
(((Hug))) to you Taplady - it must be so hard to have lost such a good friend. (((Hugs))) to her family, too.
Well, I've mioliered so I'm off to empty the WM and hang the clothes on the airer upstairs, then peel the pots for dinner and then straight on with the ironing.

Edited to send good wishes and (((hugs))) to Vicky's Mum.KNIT YOUR SQUARE TOTALS:

Happy Birthday BargainBird!!! Have a lovely day..
Diva, glad you had a good one, very generous of you to offer to share the cheesecake, but you are right - I am most definitely off my food at the moment (which means I am really not feeling at all well...).
Unfortunately brain unable to retain any infomration & is not working properly but ((((((((Hugs)))))))) to all the others not feeling well, and/or having tough times. Thinking of you all my OS friends. Hopefully normal service will be resumed before Xmas day!Live your life until love is found, or love's gonna get you down" (credit to Mika!)0 -

Well you know I only offered to share cos I knew you couldn't have any:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: .
You poor thing - I do hope you feel better soon, it's no fun having flu once, never mind twice. I haven't had it for years - I take echinacea drops in water twice a day once everyone else starts sneezing and it seems to keep the bugs away!!

I tend to take Vitamin C, not every day, but year round. Earlier in the year I had flu, there was a really virulent one got my ds's school, which he kindly shared with me. Local health authorities were ringing all families affected, researching what was going on. Generally speaking I don't get much in the way of colds these days. When I was teaching in primary schools I got everything that was going. I didn't have such a good diet then, or supplement regime.[SIZE=-1]"Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Morning all.
Plans for today include jobsearch, cooking a pack of BOGOF chicken thighs and drumsticks I defrosted last night (gonna put some in the some of the soup I made last night- flatmate is veggy so I will have to separate some) and use some for a chicken curry with Tescos Value curry sauce which I find quite tasty with some sultanas and coconut in.
I am gonna venture along to the Westfield centre and see if I can get my book signed by Jamie Oliver. Might be a big queue but then again a lot of people don't like the guy so manybe not. I have only been to the Westfield once for the free Wagamama dinner and wanted to have a look round after Xmas but hopefully with the credit crunch it won't be so busy. I don't need any more things for Xmas personally unless somethign catches my eye but they do have a Waitrose.
After that or instead of that if the crowds too busy,it will be home to a nice evening with Xmas movies on dvd again or maybe one from Lovefilm if one arrives. I have noticed with the post it now takes a few days for them to get here rather than the day after they are sent... Holding up my turnover which really annoys me as I try to get the most out of the plan by watching them the day they arrive and sending them back the next or same day. Grrrr...
Hope you all have a lovely day and get well soon to anyone that's poorly. What Would Bill Buchanan Do?0 -
Morning all,
I haven't been on her for a while, I've been knocked sideways with the Gastric flu virus, I haven't felt so bad.
I managed to finish decorating the rooms and 2 trees y/day, have to do some wrapping today and make a shopping list.
Must vacume through as the place has been neglected, DH has done his best to keep on top of things.
I asked him to go to Morries last week as I was collecting till receipts to get the £20 cash back. He gave me the receipt y/day He had spent £39. 97p, I told him it had to be £40 or more. Not a happy bunny.
Well, must try and catch up with what's been hapening here since last Thursday, (((((((((Hugs)))))))))) to poorlies.
Got an apple cake in the oven and BM on. Bed stripped and remade the sheets drying on the line.0 -
Hello everyone,
Another stinker of a day here. Sigh.Roll on winter.
I'm so glad someone posted the bounty recipe yesterday. Thanks. :A I was up at 6am making a batch. They turned out well. I covered mine in white chocolate though as that was all I had. I had 4 left over which I've hidden in the back of the fridge.

He is taking a card with him though to open while he is away as they are not allowed to take gifts with them. Thoughts go out to all those who have loved ones working this festive time whether it be on the rigs, hospitals, army etc. Merry christmas everyone:beer:
On a lighter note I only have 2.5 days of work left before we close for xmas..YAY!!:j

Morning chums ,still sneezing for England at the moment .I'm staying at home today as I'm hoping to go to Bluewater tomorrow .I will go a little earlier than planned as I want to have a good look at the Remoskas in Lakeland Thank you mummysaver and moiliere for your views. It looks as though the middle size one will be the most useful. I will have a go with the lids though. Is the booklet much good that comes with it or should I buy a recipe book as well.
I also have to try and find somewhere that sells oilcloth for my DD as her one that my brother sent from France is on its last legs. I wonder if John Lewis sells it I need about two metres. It does save the dining table from all the childrens paints and spills. I am meeting my friend there at lunchtime and after lunch we are going to see 'The Changling' at the cinema so I had better get my shopping done first.
Today I shall have lamb chops for dinner tonight as I have found some in the freezer, lunch will be probably a cheese toastie.A lot of food hasn't got much taste at the moment because of my cold so I think savoury things might perk up my appetite.
<<hugs>> to all of the ones who feel down, and we should have a seperate thread for us 'lurgyfied' ones. There seems to be so many bugs about at the moment .Fingers crossed we will all feel better by the week-end.
Take care all
