I haven't made mine formally yet - they'll probably be the same ones I carry around in my head the other 364 days of the year!biggrin.gif
Hey there beks!sLo_hug2.gif Thanks for the link to that interesting story from MIND about resolutions, hunnie.wink.gif It really does make perfect sense when you think about it. The awful thing about mental ill health, imho, is that we fight so hard to improve ourselves all year round, setting ourselves sometimes unreachable targets and looking for that 'magical' cure. And all in the name of trying to be 'normal', whatever that is - which in itself is probably doing us more harm than it is good.
The irony is that I've got to go and see the vet, erm, gp today and you can guarantee the first thing they say to you is either lose weight or grow another foot taller, eat and drink properly, exercise more, walk on water... waiting.gifbiggrin.gif
And all these things are usually in the top 10 of everyone's New Year's resolutions!rolleyes.gif
So this year, I think I'll just resolve to get as many hugs as I can and maybe be a little kinder to myself too.
HEY - DID YOU SEE THAT?!!!
    ...pigfly.gif...biggrin.gif
Oh well, my intentions were good.wink.gif
    Safe journeys everyone.sLo_hug2.gif

  • Hello all
I've been feeling quite down over the past few days and came across the little poem below which made me smile so I thought I'd share it with you all :

    I wish I was a glow worm
‘cos I never would be glum
‘cos how can you be miserable
when the sun shines out your bum!

I know, I come and go a bit Shaz, but when I'm not around here, you can text/call me anytime for a moan. Your friend is talking through a hole in her ar**. She's not walking in your shoes, and has not right to say those things to upset you. Every one of us would not want to live on benefits if we had a choice, but life is different for everyone, I know most of us would give our right arm to change the cards we've been dealt.

You take care, and do your best to ignore those ignorant comments. Hope you're night goes well,

I hate people who say things like get up off your a s $ when you are up against it. They don't sound very nice and sometimes you have to trim the dross from last year!

New Year can be an eye opener. Once you get out of Christmas mode and people are rude again, it is very difficult to get into it again.

Resolutions are a dreadful thing to do in the middle of a dark depressing winter. We eat, drink or do whatever is not good for us to get us thro it. What needs to be addressed is what drive us to use these crutches.

    Hi ab!hello.gif
Happy New Year, ab. I hope you're well hun.wink.gif
I am quite open-minded about hypnotherapy and other health regimes and I do wish you success with your business hun. I'm sure you won't mind if I throw my tuppence worth in, regarding one of your posts yesterday, hunnie. So ex-squeeze me for putting my muzzle in, ab.biggrin.gif

Over the last few months there have been several posts removed for giving medical advice. the line between information and advice is in some cases a fine one. So as an experiment I have revamped one of my websites and added a forum which has not been used for some time. This is to enable people to discuss medications including counselling and the talking therapies. your fears , sucesses etc and what you found helpful. its free to join and I will try and moderate it a tiny bit just to keep out the spam.

This is not meant to be a rival to this thread but more an extra facility if you want it.....
However, I'm afraid I wasn't impressed with your post about your new forum and I'd like to make the following points, all of which are just my humble opinion.

    - Everyone has the right to visit other sites should they wish to do so. However, we're not allowed to post a link to sites that are also possibly leading to your own business gain.
    - Several posts have been removed because they gave medication advice angel, and there were good reasons for it. Regardless of if you were even a Fellow of The Royal College of Surgeons, you still wouldn't be able to discuss meds here, ab. Posts have to be done bearing in mind the whole range of readers that we get here and there would be some serious medical and legal implications from people posting what their opinions are on meds.
    - I think I can say that everyone is always relieved to find this thread angel, the comfort you get that knowing that there's people out there who really understand what you're going through. Many of us get nervous enough about meds as it is and they might give/take meds advice that isn't appropriate for them. God forbid that something happens to someone here, because they were following advice posted on taking/not taking meds. So I can see why MSE Martin has installed this rule - it makes perfect sense and it keeps us all safe.
    - People who post here are all at various points in their journeys, and I don't agree with prolonged long distance 'advice'/'discussions' of such a sensitive nature. Whatever your intentions hun, I feel people should only discuss actual meds with their own doctors, who will have an accurate medical record of them.

    - ''So as an experiment I have revamped one of my websites and added a forum ...'' I just didn't think that it was very suitable to offer access to your site with us as an experiment. I'm hoping that was just an unfortunate choice of words hun, because I am most assuredly not going to be an experiment.

    - I understand that people may join there voluntarily, visit out of their own free will and also that you seem to offer this in a philanthropic vein. I don't have any problem with what you claim you can do ab, hypnotherapy can be interesting, but I do have a problem with the fact that we are all different here, from our experiences to our body chemistry, and so there's never a ''one size fits all'' option. By this I mean that I'd be worried that people might alter their care packages because the nice man on the Depression thread said it could possibly help if we do things another way. Yes I know it's a forum angel, but you are still a practioner.wink.gif

    - We should all be extremely careful about the choices we make, especially when we might not be in the right place to be making such
crucial choices. Please guys, don't ever consider any alternatives or changes to your medical treatment without consulting your drs first.

I'm not attacking you personally, lovely ab, but I've noticed that your professional skills have been brought up quite a few times before and I'm sorry to say that I don't think it's appropriate for this site.
I'm sure you do help people but it is not your prerogative to offer it here, be it free or not. There is also, of course, the obvious captive client base on this thread issue that you seem to attempt to reach in some ways.

I know our equally lovely gem, (sLo_hug2.gif), has posted several replies similar to mine in response to your posts in the past and that you are very adept at dancing around with your wording. But I don't want to dance angel and honestly, I'm not picking a fight with you either.

I know you said that it's not offered as a replacement for this thread, which is good because I've seen real wonders worked here in the two and a half years of being a member of this thread since back on Thread Home No.1.action-smiley-033.gifangel-smiley-002.gif
My viewpoint is that if it ain't broke, don't fix it, iykwim?wink.gif

I guess basically it's your persistance in bringing these things up that always somehow end up with your skills being available via the thread, that is a little unnerving to me. Nobody else does this as far as I know.

I'd urge anyone to please consult their own professionals before undertaking any new treatment. Even 'herbal' remedies can react with meds you might be taking. We have to be so, so careful guys. Surely it would be best to check with your dr if you're interested in taking this route and finding a local hypnotherpist for yourself?
Anyway, all this is just a Tiff opinion hunnie - best wishes ab.sLo_hug2.gif

I'm sorry for the length of this post folks - I'll be in my cat basket if anyone wants me.blink.gifsLo_hug2.gif
