I woke up with my heart beating this morning because its Christmas week. Im looking forward to Christmas day its all the things you have to do in the run up. Mum rang this morning and said that my dad had gone off to the shop they own to help my brother out because it is mega busy (my dad owns the shop but is retired and my brother runs it). He had gone without taking the lunches my mum had prepared for them so she asked me if I would take them in. I just hope the car parks aren't packed in town. No room behind the shop once two of my brothers and my dad have parked there.
You are not the only one who gets stressed before christmas. I had a lightbulb moment (pity there wasnt a power cut) to go to tescos extra at Slough. Did more miles around the carpark than I did getting there. No decent bargains came back with a few bits i could have got from the corner shop:mad:
    Roll on the january sales:rotfl:

Hang in there, CCStar. Wish I could help but virtual hugs is all I can offer.

I know some people don't like it but I really wish it would get colder and icy and even snow. Its more Christmassy than mild weather.

AB, we've seen a lot of car park rage in the past few weeks as everyone fights for spaces! Some people are awful. My sister-in-law and I just try to relax and find a space when one becomes available. Its why I like to get my Christmas shopping done early before everyone else!

I have wondered if I am noticing that a lot of people who I wouldnt normally associate with being depressed seem to be exhibiting signs of depression lately. Especially irritability and anxiety.

It might just be the long winter and the dark dark evenings, but I'm wondering if the constant slew of negative news isnt bringing peoples heads down a bit, regardless of their own circumstances.

Personally I'm in a good position as me and Mrs Toast are both reasonably securely employed, without debts, have a baby on the way, and now actually have a chance of buying a place. Thankfully no family or friends are affected either by joblosses (though sister in law had a narrow escape from Woolies head office). I should be happy and feeling lucky.

I have started to feel quite down however, which isnt terribly unusual for me as I suffer from depression on and off, always have, and probably always will.

    But how about you?

    Hi,

In the interest of keeping boards running on-topic, I'm moving this to the MoneySaving in Marriages, Relationships & Families board where there is a support thread.

decided to pop into morrisons this morning, never seen the place so busy, have to admit i only went because i forgot to order bread from mr asda delivery, otherwise i avoid supermarkets this time of year.
finding it really stressful having the boys at home, and there is nowhere to take them. am looking forward to going out tommorrow night, to get a break from them, and also as i havent seen ian for a few days, and missing him.

  • Hi there, I'm a newbie so just been reading a few previous posts and empathising! yes did the Morrisons shop at 8am this morn - it's worth the early start just to save a nervous breakdown and/or doing something against the law! (trolley rage anyone?) Currently stuffing myself silly with all the rubbish I bought (ok Baileys is quality but not good for the old muffin top). This is my Xmas blow-out as boyfriend off to India for 10 days so feeling bit pathetic (not very femanistic - am ashamed!)
My conclusion, I've just booked 2 classes at the gym tonight (the place I've paid not to go to for the last 7wks!) Honestly, the gym (or classes in my case) is better than anything I've had on prescription but it's just the initial getting there thats the bar steward! LOL. Need to get outta my sofa/bed-shaped rut.......

    Take care xxxxxx:o
