Staples only price match if the retailer has them in stock - so if you don't know where Somerfields has them , then you're out of luck (unless you blag it)...
Yes, you can load the Garmin with other maps, but I din't think anywhere offers them for free...but I'm sure I've seen a link to buy on https://www.garmin.com...0 -
It may have already been asked or answered - apologies if it has:
When I turn on my Garmin i3 it seems to take a long time to find the satellites. Once its found a satellite all is fine, but its just the intital turning on each time.
Is this normal?
How can i fix it?
Also one more quick question on the system or map settings there is the option of GPS or WAAS.
Whats the difference and which one shall i choose?
Sorry to blast out all these questions.
Thanks0 -
The first fix on the satellites can take quite a few minutes, but from then on it should only take upto a minute, I believe that if you leave batteries in it while its not being used then it will lock onto satellites quicker too. Where are you when you switch it on, is the car moving or still??
I have heard WAAS/EGNOS is not fully active yet so leave it as the default, no harm in trying it though and seeing what results it comes up with.0 -
When i get into the car i turn it on and wait, after half a minute i get bored and then drive, during this time its searching for the satellites.
The first time i turned it on it found the sat's within about 3 - 4 minutes.
Would you recommend turning it on, sticking it in the garden for a while so it can get a proper first fix?
I'll leave it on the GPS thingy aswell then, thanks0 -

[I hope you can appreciate that we err on the side of caution in these types of situations, and i hope this thread can now continue in a more friendly manner[/QUOTE]

Thank you Forum Manager. I had already removed my posts relating to this matter last night and suggest that other related posts are also remove as they are irrelevant and add nothing to the subject of this post - ie Bargain Sat Nav for £99. I admit that I was equally to blame for taking this thread off course, but I have now corrected this.
Thank you very much to all those who supported me. :beer:0 -

Lazy_Ike wrote:Bought an i3 at Peterborough Staples 2 days ago for £119.99 (I was too late for the Somerfields ones). As Staples stock other Garmin models perhaps they got mixed up, I would try again. Very pleased with mine so far.
Thanks for the reply, after a PM from a member of this board I called them back and asked the price again and was told £119.99.
Went down there sharpish and got myself one for £119.99 -very happy!!!
Many thanks for all the help people!
BTW, my local store (Hanley, Stoke-On-Trent) had about 8 more left plus I rang Chester store and they had 5. Not a very well advertised offer so you should be able to get one easily if anyone needs one!!!0
