Well, that is one that you should follow. Using the same piece over and over again is just manky and negates the whole point of flossing as you are just removing plaque from between two teeth, then putting it back between two other teeth. I haver asked a Dentist about this, he said that it is important to use a new bit for each gap.

Yes, so I pull off a long bit of floss, and then move the active "tooth cleaning" bit along after each tooth so I'm cleaning each tooth (well, okay each gap) with a clean area of thread.

Pulling off a new bit of thread for each tooth means I'm wasting all the thread area I wound round my fingers to hold on with each time.

When I'm feeling plush I sport out for those "dental swords": imagine a little plastic bow where the bowstring is dental floss. Horrendously expensive, but it does avoid that horrible feeling of trying to cram both hands into my mouth at the same time. (Foot in mouth - no problem, I've discovered.) ;)

Cant remember the exact brand of water, think it may be Evian? Anyway, on the back of the bottle it says that the bottle is only designed to hold evian water and shouldnt be refilled:rotfl:

And if you spell EVIAN backwards...you get NAIVE!

Congratulations, you can read, now if you had bothered to read the rest of the thread that has been covered:rolleyes:

We both work in large retail establishments and no one has ever commented on our personal hygiene - most people are stunned to find out about our habit.

~Nail polish that says use an undercoat, 2 layers of polish and then a topcoat...you're only putting it on to go out for the night!

But it's not designed to just be put on to go out for one night, it's designed to be worn for however many days, the more the better, without needing touching up and using a base coat, two thin coats of varnish and a topcoat will mean it lasts longer and therefore you use less of the colour in the long run than having to re-paint your nails every other day. And if you are using a strong colour and not using a base coat you risk staining your nails yellow - urgh. (although it's not too hard to remove, just use denture whitening tablets and soak your nails in a little bowl for a few minutes, or the juice of a lemon).

Ah but then my boss and my patients might have something to say if I turned up to the ward with dark purple nail polish!!;)
  • Reading the posts about buying bottled water reminded me how old my water bottles are. I bought them for about £5 each back in, roughly, 1992 from a camping shop for use while hiking with the air cadets. I now fill them from the tap at home and use them almost every day at work as I don't have access to running water all the time. They get rinsed between every fill and get washed with the dishes about once a month with no ill effects. When you consider that a bottle of water costs upwards of £2 I think that I must have saved thousands.
My point, buy a good water bottle and fill it from the tap. These bottled water companies are making a mint.
  • Agree with the tip about Milton except that I use VWP, the home brewing steriliser, for all sorts of things, including soaking wetsuits after an inadvertant swim with the blue-green algae whilst sailing.
As for take with a pinch of salt - my Epson printer telling me to use only own brand cartridges at £7.99 each (times 4 colours) instead of Novatech's own at about£1.88 each.

They are designed for single use only, because carcinogenic chemicals start to leach out of the plastic. Bit like wrapping soft foods in clingfilm.
What then about shelf life? Does the leaching start only when the bottle is refilled or are we safe up to the use by date irrespective of what the contents are?
  • I'm training to be a hairdresser and you should shampoo your hair twice before you condition it.
If you use alot of product on your hair then you really must shampoo twice, but even if you dont, you wouldnt believe how much dirt you get in your hair just from the wind and rain and walking around.
If you notice next time you shampoo your hair, the first wash wont be the soapy or foamy, but the second shampoo use half of what you used on the first one and it will proper foam up because the first was would have got all the dirt and much out the hair and the second shampoo cleanses it. then the conditioner smoothes and nourishes.
you find if you do 2 shampoos your hair wont get greasy as quickly and will be alot more softer and sleeker after you condition because there wont be a barrier stopping the conditioner from working properly.
