:TI dilute Fairy washing up liquid. I always have a spare empty bottle which I half fill with Fairy then top up with water. It stops you using too much and lasts twice if not three times longer.
I do something similar... when washing the lot i use as normal but when i want to wash one plate cup etc i use a water washing up liquid mix that i keep in an empty spray i find that one bottle of fairy liquid lasts 3x as long this way.

There was something in one of the glossy mags the other day about shampoo ... one of the top hairdressers (and I can't for the life of me remember which, but it was one with their own haircare range) said 'lather, rinse, repeat' is the biggest beauty myth - you only need to wash your hair once unless it's exceptionally thick or dirty ... twice actually dries the hair out. But of course then you have to use extra conditioner to combat the dry hair...!
Personally, I use the Lush solid shampoo bars which are tiny, last forever, lather up great and only need to wash hair every two or three days
And only condition the ends once a week or so.
Kudos on whoever brought up the printer thing - mine also states not to use refill cartridges but I've never had a problem with Cartridge World refills. Printers also advise that you use their brand of paper (Premium for best quality) instead of buying cheap reams of Tesco Value stuff.0 -

I shampoo my hair twice. The first shampoo I use a cheapy to get rid of the majority of grease, then for the second shampoo I use the expensive stuff. That way the expensive shampoo will last twice as long. A hairdresser once told me that you only need shampoo in your hand the size of a ten pence piece to wash your hair. I also only ever buy the good quality bogof products.

I used to buy my products from my salon untill my cousin (he works in a top london salon) said i was wasting my money and the cheapest shampoos are the best!
Now I use tesco discount brands prov shampoo and conditioner and people always comment how glossy my hair looks its less than 70p a bottle and reccomend you all try it

Our water tastes absolutely disgusting (as if someone has tipped TCP into it) so we use a filter jug to improve the taste of the water. If we went buy the indicator on top of the jug, we'd be changing the filter every couple of weeks. As it is, they last about 3 months before the antiseptic taste seems to get through. It is kept in the fridge the whole time.
Also use only 1 washing powder tablet, 1 teabag for 2 cups of tea and a tiny amount of toothpaste.
I wouldnt use an old tea bag but would use it at the sametime for more than 1 cup.
If i have guests i use a pot annd use about one bag for every 3 people andI'm an MSE SLACKER!!!! Slap my bum.

The worst offenders I've found are print cartridge manufacturers.
My printer displays an 'ink guide' to show how much ink is remaining - and the amount is always hopelessly inaccurate. The first time I saw my black ink cartridge was showing empty I dutifully changed it, because I'd a long print run to do and didn't want to risk printing 20 pages of nothing if it ran out in the middle.
The second time I hadn't got a new cartridge, and simply let it run. I finally got 110 more pages out of that cartridge, and realized how much I'd thrown away last time...
Even then, the printer kept flashing doom-laden alarms of 'Ink Low' all the way through. It's a conspiracy...

With regards to pet food - cat has a handful of biscuits in the morning and a pouch in the evening. If I took any notice of the feeding instructions he'd be the size of a dog and I'd have less money.
...and there'd be more vermin locally

and now the manufacturers have put chips on the cartridges so the printer won't work unless you put a new one in  damn them! damn them all!The worst offenders I've found are print cartridge manufacturers.

I've racked my brain trying to think of one that's not been said and all I could remember was I usually take 1 tablet for headaches not the 2 advised it usually hits the spot fine.
I also water down fresh fruit juice nothing to do with instructions but I prefer it that way my OH thinks its gross but it lasts twice as long and is much better for your teeth0 -

On the subject of printer cartridges, they always say don't re-fill them. I've never had a problem, though it is a fiddly job and potentially messy. Also, when you do need a new one, don't go to your local shop and pay full price. There are hundreds of them at less than half price on ebay. I've only once bought a dud - so overall saving has been huge.0
