Probably said this before but.......when I was a careers adviser I visited a company which manufactured washing powder for 'shops own' brands. The guy who showed us around told us that the guideline amounts were way too high, and could easily be halved or less. Same with dishwasher tabs etc. (I always break d/w tabs in half). Also, never put concentrated conditioner straight in the wash. You will always use too much as it is difficult to be accurate. I overdilute 2 X 20 wash bottles into a 5 litre bottle, then use it.

Argh! That thing about bottled water and various diseases and bugs (one of them says you might get cancer!) really annoys me! It is completely untrue and only perpetuated by fowarded chain emails - why anyone believes those is beyond me.
It is NOT TRUE.
If that was the case all plastic packaging would be banned by now, it is tested and tested and tested before being put into the marketplace - how else would we be able to use plastic containers to heat up ready meals?

I always ignore the toys and gadgest which say, do not use rechargeable batteries. Ready to be enlightened if anyone knows why they say that.0

Or you could just not use conditioner at all, and use vinegar instead? Or nothing.Argh! Well, I agree with you on the last bit, but these weren't actually the subject of that previous post - the danger of bacteria-laden water bottles is real, if they're not cleaned properly. Having said that, the level of bacteria in unused, sealed water bottles (i.e. just bought from the shop) is higher than tap water anyway. Far better to buy a couple of sports bottles, fill 'em up from the tap and stick them in the dishwasher.0 -

The theory is that if you 'tap' it (i.e. belt it hard on the table), it breaks into individual segments as you open it. If you don't tap it, you will need to break it up manually, and may have to eat 2 or 3 pieces stuck together. Which is preferable in my view, but of course not money-saving, cos it will be gone much more quickly.I try not to get too stressed out on the forum. I won't argue, i'll just leave a thread if you don't like what I say.

In most cases they will work but motors etc may run slow . Alkaline batteries etc are rated to give out 1.5 volts while rechargable cells are only rated at 1.2 volts .A 4 cell gadget rated at 6 volts will only recieve 4.8 volts from 4 rechargable cells .0 -

I don't know how true it is but I read or was told that re-chargables can discharge suddenly and give a little electric shock. Having said that, we've used rechargables for years with no problems.7 Angel Bears for LovingHands Autumn Challenge. 10 KYSTGYSES. 3 and 3/4 (ran out of wool) small blanket/large square, 2 premie blankets, 2 Angel Claire Bodywarmers0 -
The shampoo example reminds of my moneysaving tip.
I have really thick long hair and don't tend to wash it more than once or twice a week as it is a pain to dry. If it is a little on the greasy side then I found that I needed 2 or even 3 shampoos to get the lather through the entire length of the hair.
Now, I fill the sink with water and add a small drop of shampoo. I then dunk my head in the water and use a cup to coat all my hair with this water. I then go into the shower and use less shampoo to get a good lather. You will need to experiment with the amount of shampoo you need to put in the water as it depends on your shampoo and on the condition of your hair.7 Angel Bears for LovingHands Autumn Challenge. 10 KYSTGYSES. 3 and 3/4 (ran out of wool) small blanket/large square, 2 premie blankets, 2 Angel Claire Bodywarmers0
