Thank you everyone:A I've got to stay in anyway today as Dd reckons she's too poorly to go to school -she is, at the moment, I've a feeling she'll make a miraculous recovery by lunchtime:rolleyes: so no Christmas meal out
but no swimming run either:D and I suppose I'll save money by not having lunch out.

Morning everyone
Didn't post over the weekend as I felt ghastly. Sitting at work today and thinking thank god holidays and 5 days away.
Taplady, ~hugs~ and my deepest sympathy about lesley. You are all in my thoughts
Hester & N9eav get well soon
Thriftlady I hope all goes well with DS. It is perfectly normal to worry and especially when he is having a GA. A bit of pampering when he gets home is in order
~hugs and warm thoughts for anyone else who needs it on this winter day~
Dinner last night for me was half a baked potato with a wee bit butter and cheese. Was really all I could face. Dinner tonight will be cooked by DH and I have no clue what he is making. We decided since I have had a tummy upset that I really shouldn't handle food. That's what I get for trying the Tom Yum king prawn soup from a chinese takeaway that I never used before.
My annual rail ticket was delivered on saturday, asked for registered post and it came via regular mail and all it contained was 2 weeks of underground tickets  Needless to say I panicked as the cost is over £1200 but paid by CC so if the worst happens I can at least get a refund. I am waiting with bated breath till they open at 9am and get onto the phone. I suppose the only real OS thing I did was send DH to Lidl for the shopping and gave him a note. I think he spent the grand total of £15 for the weekly shop. I may just have to do this each week till my overflowing freezer is emptied.
take care all and have a lovely day0 -

Good morning all from the cold north west. Grateful that it's dry today as I need to do several outside errands. We do not have a car so it's mainly walk everywhere or the bus if necessary. We're fortunate that most everything we need is within walking distance.
The flat is messy after the weekend. DH and I just took the weekend off from chores. I'll spend an extra half hour or so with the tidying today. Was worth just having the time to relax together. He works long hours outside walking his beat as a civil enforcement officer aka traffic warden. Not on the top of the most popular people, especially at this time of year. LOL I've told him he should write a book of the outlandish excuses he's heard. I think he'd make a mint.
We were going to decorate our flat yesterday, only to find that some of the decorations I'd put away just weren't going to work out too well. Oh well, I'll slip out to B&M today and get a few. I've found some very nice ornaments and baubles at the charity shops this year. Has anyone else noticed that charity shops seem to be raising their prices a lot? There doesn't seem to be as many bargains to be found as there used to be.
I have a few Christmas gifts to wrap today for DH. A few very small stocking stuffers are all I need to get for the kidlets and him. Hopefully I'll get those while out today also.
Making a "peyton concoction" for dinner tonight. Our joke of me throwing this and that together and hoping it comes out alright. I'm using things up from the freezer and pantry and the choices are limited now. Tonight we'll have baked beans with breakfast sausages I've cooked in them. Will throw in peppers, onion and garlic and some seasonings. Add a green veg on the side and that's sorted. Quick, easy and hopefully good. Fingers crossed here.
I'm going to try my hand at making mince pies today. Coming from the states, we rarely see small individual pies. They're usually made in an 8 or 9 inch pie tin and I've always bought them frozen and just baked them. I have a lovely recipe for pie crust that DH loves. It's nice for savoury and sweet pies, very light and flaky.
Big ((((((((((((HUGS)))))))))))))))) to all feeling poorly. And wishes that you feel much better soon.:grouphug:
((((((((((((((((((Hugs)))))))))))))))))))) to all who are struggling at this time, and anyone else who wants one. :grouphug:
Leaving with a final thought~

Just take the first step.

Morning all! (((hugs))) to those who are poorly- seem to be a lot of bugs around at the moment!
I haven't been on the boards cos I was in Spain last week for 4 days- freebie trip thanks to Marriott points! It was lovely building sandcastles on the beach in jean and t-shirts in December!
Back to reality now though and my laundry pile equals Widow Twanky's Launderette!! Getting through it today but having to use the T/D a lot unfortunately but once I get on top of it it will be ok!
Need to buy a new Christmas tree today because our one form the USA is too many watts for our convertor and don't want to burn the house down!!!
Will finish decorating today too.
Need to speak to the vet- puggy has cut his paw and had to have it stapled while in kennels so need to check when the staples need removing or whether they will fall out!
Other than it will be tidying and decorating and cutting holly in the garden to decorate with!
Have a good day everyone!!0
