severn bridge £80 charge to cross

my friend just come back over the severn bridge into wales..he had no money to pay the toll and was running out of petrol...they would not let him through untill eventually they said he could go through but will have a £80 charge to pay....he had no choice but to accept...

he could have pulled off after the first bridge signs and got money and petrol.

yes but if he turned round he would be stuck on the wrong side of the bridge from home with no petrol and no money..

he could have gone to a bank and drew some money out , i assume he had some id ...

will the bank let you withdraw money without your credit card..i always have to show mine at the counter when i do..

the trouble with the bridge is that if the signs saying that it's a pay bridge are after any turnings off to get cash out, it also does not say on the signs that they do not accept credit cards

and as for turning around, where can this be done when you reach the tolls?

there are signs before the last exit and the signs clearly state "cash/TAG only, no cards"
