Taplady, I too am sorry to hear that. I am glad Lesley went peacefully and that she had her last days at home with family and friends around her. As others have said, I'm sure she would have been proud of you passing your exam amidst the sadness.

taplady, congrats on passing your exam. You know Lesley is proud of you:D
She's at peace now, helped by having a wonderful friend who supported her every inch of the way. Now you must take time for you, to grieve, to remember and to adjust. Hugs and prayers for you and her family. xxYou never get a second chance to make a first impression.0 -

While I was getting ready for the exam I had a call to say my wonderful and much loved friend Lesley passed away this morning.
Oh Taplady, I am sorry to hear your news (though proud of you, as I am sure Lesley would have been, for managing to keep it together for your exam). She was blessed to have had a good friend such as you. I will keep you and Lesley's family in my thoughts.

Good evening guys,
Taplady - gentle hugs to you, thinking of you and Lesley's family. xxxx
Well I seem to be lurching from one bad day to another at the moment - Both my gas fires were condemmed when the guy came to service them and it seems it was bits of lego that were causing the fire in the dining room to smoke when we switched it on.    It has been so cold this last few weeks and looks set to continnue that I have decided to replace them. Having spent hours on line the cheapest retailer I can find is in Liverpool and so have spent £685 on 2 outset fires (really pleased with that) but having the old ones taken out and the new in is going to cost £200 (if there are no problems!). In the long run I think it will be cheaper to put the central heating back on the timer so that it goes off when the kids go to bed until morning rather than heating the whole house to keep me warm in here of an evening. I don't recall it being this cold last year as we didn't use the fire?
The eldest has been vomiting on Monday and Tuesday and LO has started vomiting tonight so it looks like there is a bug in the house. The washing machine and TD have been running at full pelt this week. Does anyone have any tips for getting the smell of vomit out of a mattress? I have washed DS1's down as best as I can but it still honks.
Mioliere - I am glad to hear LO is doing better, I hope she can be home for xmas. As to your question about Portugal, my sister sat me down some 8 weeks ago and in her usual rational manner pointed out that the kids had just lost their dad and now (in their eyes) I was planning to take xmas away from them when what they needed was things as normal as possible. She also pointed out that with DS1 behaving in the manner he is at the moment it would probably lead to a holiday to be forgotten. Having thought about it I think she is right and I have decided to postpone it until the summer. I am not looking forward to the next few weeks but it will probablly not be as bad as I think it will be plus I have put a very large bottle of whisky away (for medicinal purposes of course.) I have begun the first hurdle - wrapping the presents - which was always Eric's job as he enjoyed doing it and.... well the whisky seems to be doing it's job. :T :T :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
OS wise, the usual - the house is clean, washing was up to date  the ironing - I am starting to do a bit every day in the hope that I am never confronted with MT Everest again and we are eating home cooked food 4 out of 5 times.
A total rethink of our finances is going to be called for in January as I have 2 loans and the mortgage to try and shrink down over the next few years - a challenge - one that has also halted the hall etc. decorating (get a man in mentality) as it will be way cheaper to paint it myself  and it means the Smokey's are about to attempt a way more OS life :A
Anyway I have chuntered on long enough, LO is still on my settee and hasn't thrown up for a couple of hours so I am going to put him to bed and fingers crossed I may get some sleep.
Gentle hugs to all in need, Welcome to any newbies and congratulations to all who have had happy occassions I have missed. Also congratulations Taplady.
