    Morning all,

Feeling a lot better to-day, thanks for all the kind messages and pms yesterday.

Going shopping in a bit....DD2 is borrowing the car this afternoon to visit some friends, suits me fine as I don't need it after I have shopped.

Skip has arrived so looking forward to getting rid of stuff that belongs to 'children' and has been dumped here as I have more space...need to supervise the loading as electrical goods can't go ( must persuade DS3 to take them to dump....free) neither can anything toxic, nothing in that line I am sure.

Wet and cold here to-day but can't let that keep me inactive, lots of things to be done inside anyway.

Hugs to all in need or want, welcome to newbies, congratulations to all who are celebrating, thank you all for being my friends

No sleep here last night as ds was burning up so I took him into my bed. He talks a lot and wriggles like a basket of eels. He was still very hot this morning so I took him to the doctors to be checked out. He doesn't have any infection in his airway/lungs, so no need for antibiotics thank goodness (I have no idea how I would ever get them into him if they were needed).

The doctor we saw was lovely with him. Ds is on the sofa now watching tv and I'm hoping he will fall asleep as I think that is what he needs. Not much in the way of OS here today. I have ironing to do, but the house is fairly tidy for once. I did want to make some cheese scones, but that can wait until he's better and I'm not so tired.

I've just had a text to say that a lady that I used to work with died yesterday. I've seen her fairly recently at work, so no idea what happened. I won't find out until Monday now.

I've been thinking of Taplady's friend Lesley too.

Hugs to all of you and I hope the cold and flu virus leaves our house and the home of anyone else who has it very quickly.
  • Just had to share.

Dear heart dished up tea last night - he always does, bless him, and I appreciate. There was a tinned pie in the oven (nearly used up the stash) which was on low as it had cooked before he got in.

I have just turned the oven off!!!!!:eek::eek::eek::rolleyes:

My darling uncle is supposed to be coming up tomorrow but he is concerned about the weather. He once got stranded overnight in Walsall due to snow and had a truly awful experience so he won't set off if it is bad, especially as he is not really a well man. Rather hard to make plans, however, especially as his phone is not working due to an unpaid bill (mix up by my darling brother).

    Well, on with the scarves.

Also hugs to all and well wishes.

    Afternoon all.

Ivyleaf asked yesterday after I’d logged off if I had “Nanny Ogg’s Cookbook”. Indeed I do, and it even has a bookmark in it at the page for Strawberry Wobbler!

On the OS front, I've been making a concerted effort to use up "bits and bobs" and tail-ends of packets by way of dinner. Mr LW has said he'd like pasta tonight, so I can bung some toms I cut in half and froze because they were getting over-ripe into the sauce; that'll be the last of those, so it'll free up a bit of freezer space.

Finally got the decs put up last night - or rather Mr LW did; we don't do a lot, just some glittery holly round the perimeter of the living room, and a few other leaves and stuff. The cards are on strings in the hall, so that I don't have to dust around them. Still haven't iced the cake.

We have a busy day tomorrow - some hooligan tried to nick one of the fog lights off the car, so we have to go and get that fixed, then deliver Beer Moos (CAMRA magazine) to a couple of pubs, and in the afternoon there's a Yule Bazaar that I've been told I'm attending - can't really get out of it, it's only a 10 minute wheelchair-ride down the road.

((((HUGS)))) to all who need one - you know who you are!;)
If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)
  • Just want to add that I, too, have Nanny Ogg's cook book, and I have found it a really good read, especially the bit about the language of flowers. I've found the recipes quite reliable as well, the one or two I have tried.

There are lots of men standing round a lorry in the street. I am getting away from the computer because it is far too near the window, and I don't want to get involved.

We really do think alike on here as I was about to suggest Hardup Hesters birthday gift solution for a DH but at least three other people beat me to it.;)

Washing is on the line and another load is in the washing machine. DH came home and made him poached eggs on toast with a huge mug of tea.

Will nip out shortly and get some eggs and milk.

Keep coughing so have been taking home made elderberry syrup. Might make chicken curry in the Remoska for tonight and see if it helps the congested feeling. DH is coughing too!

Will try to write Christmas cards this weekend and try to wrap presents when DDs are not around.

Wanted new slippers but could not face having to drive to find some or to get on a bus - then had brainwave- found some cute fluffy ones at play.com with free delivery and about a fiver off the price.:j

Finishing a coffee to warm myself up and then going out to shops.

Big hug to anyone that could use one and see you later.

  • Bread maker on!

Slipping back into the bad place I was in, so I will be posting daft stuff - now I know it isn't OS but I'll try and stay on topic.

Nanny Ogg's cookbook has all sorts of old fashioned recipes. I'm not saying all of them are frugal, but they have all been workable. Unfortunately I haven't been able to get hold of any arsenic to leave out of the humbugs.

Men with lorry back in the street.

Little bear is grumpy today, so I foresee a long spell in his playpen while I get on with things (I don't just dump him in the playpen, but when he needs quiet time he goes in and I can do stuff).
