Morning campers!! I know what is she doing up at this hour. Long story, but condensed; had an awful day yesterday organised DH for his trip to blighty. First the bank made me call back after 12 for money, met a friend for coffee who is supposed to be going to a family wedding for the weekend. Got home to make cake for DS birthday plus fundrainsing and wrapping small gifts for DH to take, then got awful news that our friends Mother had died suddenly back in Wales. Couldnt believe it only 60yrs old, so birthday party on hold and lots of phone calls re birthday and the bad news. Poor friends now have to return back and not sure whats happening with the wedding plans. DH hopefully now on his way, seven year old in my bed! So wide awake now and have first wash in, so may as well make cakes now I suppose.
Meanmarie; sorry you were feeling low yesterday, hope today is better
Moilere; good news on the lo hope it continues in our prayers
Hugs to all and I may get to return at a more earthly hour. x

Morning Turfy6 & all who follow, sorry to hear your bad news.
I've been awake since 4 panicking about the amount of work need doing before we break up.
Mustangal, you could make rice bags instead of wheat bags.
Lamewolf, we celebtate Yule here too.
We have only 3 staff leaving this term, which is something of a record for us, the children are better with some continuity.
I hope everyone has a good day.
Hugs Hester

Morning. TGIF. I have the next 4 days off after today and then it's a whole week of late shifts covering the County as duty officer. Great. Just what you need in the run up to Christmas....
OH has supply work today and an interview on Monday, so she is happy with that at the moment. There are still no teaching jobs in Cornwall and in fact the school where I am Governor will be making teachers redundant this coming year. All very sad, but thats the way it's all going down here. The county is filling up with older people and no kids.
Many thanks to those concerned on the post 10th Dec for the OH. The teaching jobs in Cornwall is dire and getting a permenant post is a real dog fight. They recon about 200 applicants for most primary jobs!
Got my Wii yesterday in HMV, managed to haggle a good deal, so am happy that is all purchased. Huge queues for a Thursday, so someone has money....
Big meeting at HQ today, so a nice easy finish to the week... Friends over for a meal tonight and then shopping on Saturday I think.
Cheers folksNO to pasty tax We won!!!! Just shows that people power works! Don't be apathetic to your cause!0 -
good morning all. Its getting cold here now, jumpers and socks are coming out !! I am at work all day today so its chilli from the freezer for dinner. Washing is in the machine, just waiting to hang it on the line then I'll be off to work. We have christmas fete in the village square tomorrow, should be lots of fun.
Hope you all have a great weekend x0 -

Morning All
Another awake at silly o'clock here, blaming too much diet coke yesterday when out, and no wanting anything fattening, and disliking tonic!
:grouphug: to all poorly friends, the throat op got cancelled due to no ICU beds, so await more news there. Also to any of us not feeling great :grouphug:
We are off today for a weekend in the 'van. Insane I know but quite excited haven't met up with the friends since September, so loads to catch up with. Have taken some SC'd mince and veg out of the freezer, to make a pie or cobber for tonight, with loads of veg, cooking for our friends too, need something warming this weathe. DS called last night to say he and GF were going to come home this weekend, good timing I know, but he fancied being at home rather than in a house, they will enjoy the house to themselves;) , as we are not far away we will pop back and see them, and catch them before they go on Sunday. Managed to catch me before Aldi, so fridge full, and what not eaten I am sure will disappear in the boot. Would cost far more if he lived at home:D .
Must go and get organised as 'van not packed yet:eek: . Xmas cards not written yet apart from overseas ones.
Fingers crossed Taplady sure you will be fine.

MeanMarie - sorry yesterday brought back some sad memories - Last week would have been my Dad's birthday - I do so miss him and today would have been the 98th birthday of the elderly gent I looked after for years until he died a few weeks ago.Do what you love :happyhear0 -
Morning everyone
Taplady - good luck with your exam!
Another chilly morning :snow_grin Well I will wake up before the heating comes on won't I
Work today, then it's our Christmas party tonight :xmastree: I really looking forward to it, we're all getting dressed up in our party frocksDinner, taxi, disco and half a bottle of wine all paid for - so should be a great night.
I need to get a birthday card today and some icing for DH's birthday cake today - he's the big 40 on Sunday. He's had his present from me early (electric guitar) so I feel a bit mean not giving him anything on the day (any ideas for a free present).
Need to wrap up my secret santa present (I bought a pair of leather gloves), sort out DD's clothes (non uniform day) and make her packed lunch - DH and I are having last night's leftovers.
Dinner tonight will be chicken parmigiana (sp?) for DH and DD - I'm eating out
Have a lovely day everyone (((((hugs)))))Squares knitted for my throw ~ 90 (yes!!! I have finally finished it :rotfl: )Squares made for my patchwork quilt ~ 80 (only the "actual" quilting to do now :rotfl:)0 -
Hi all and lots of (((hugs))) to Turfy - what sad news.
LO is actually improving, if very slowly, now, and they are hoping she will be back where she belongs, with her family, by Christmas. It's been such a dreadful time for them and your prayers and thoughts have helped such a lot.
(((Hugs))) to all who are unwell or anxious - there is a lot to worry about these days for many on this thread.
Well, today I need to go food shopping; I'm hoping to do the bulk of the food for Christmas - apart from the fresh fruit, veg and milk, because I really hate how busy the shops get. I still have some wrapping up to do but hope to get that done over the weekend. All my cards for Europe are ready for posting - this is the last day for Western Europe.
I have no idea what dinner will be; I'll decide once I've been shopping!
DH had the afternoon off yesterday so he finished painting the outside of the windows - it's been so cold out there for him, especially when he's been working on the shadiest part of the house; he's been wearing two woolly hats which made him look like a Smurf, so the neighbours have had a laugh! Still, it's better than freezing. He has also repainted the radiators so they are looking like new again, although it meant not having the heating on for most of the afternoon yesterday. He has work starting on Monday that should keep him in work up to Christmas and afterwards, too. Fingers crossed that it does because things are really slowing down now. Being self-employed is a double-edged sword - it's good that you don't have to worry about being made redundant but you have to keep looking for work, and you don't get paid for 'down' time. I've always hated him being self-employed but I think in the current climate, it's the better of two evils.
Well, I'd better go and get him up - he's coming shopping with me today so that will be a laugh because I take longer to look for the bargains nowadays!
(((Hugs))) to all.
