  • well done! you should feel really proud of yourself. cheering.gif

don't forget to hoard all bubble envelopes and packaging that comes your way - even boxes from your weekly shop (cereal, dishwasher tablets, whatever!) can come in handy when ebaying. we have a big collection of packaging just by saving everything we can so very rarely need to spend anything on supplies. :j

    Good morning hellowave.gif

I am going to shamelessly copy and paste a good chunk of this entry into the "What Small DFW Things" thread when it goes up, as I like to set out plans for the day before I go to work but if I had posted in there yesterday I would have been late for work :rotfl:

So, before I start rambling about any old rubbish, today I have done/will do:

    • Washing at 30 degrees people566.gif
    • Take flask to work instead of buying tea/coffee coffee.gif
    • Realise that t'other half didn't buy bread so no sandwiches, do I cave and buy a sandwich at work? No, put on some pasta to have with sauce at lunchtime!
    • Checked internet banking - payday today so made my PADs to debts - total made £30
    • Updated lovely new notebook with PAD and wages info - none of your spreadsheets nonsense for me :D
    • Inventory what food we have in the cupboard, throw out spoiled veg etc. Beg best friend to take me to Tesco this weekend to save the delivery charge - this close to Christmas I will be lucky to get a delivery slot and won't benefit from reduced food if available! shop.gif
    • If above-mentioned best friend has recovered from her cold, we shall go and see The Changeling at the picturespopcorn.gif
    • Make dinner with food from the freezer, not payday takeaway
    • Try and find free newspaper on the bus
    • Package up Ebay stuff, as auctions close tomorrow
    • Opened another web account to house my Entertainment/going out money so I can track my budget more easily!
    • Ordered £20 Asda vouchers from Ipoints, should arrive in a few weeks, given the Christmas post
Ok, so that's the DFW stuff I am going to do/try and do today. I have other happy news - I got home to a £50 cheque last night from t'other halfs dad and stepmum for Christmas. I got one the other day from my uncle, and had saved £80 of birthday money for the sales as well, so my January sales shopping should be paid in cash not credit this year :D I will also use some of this money to pay off some more of my debts.

    Thought of the Day
    brightidea.gif

This is the most excited about payday I have been in months - normally my money will come in and vanish out again really quickly. Today it has done that, but in a better way. £30 to PAD. Exact amount of direct debits to current account. Groceries money to groceries account. Surplus kept separate to help me figure out where my money is going via my spending diary. It's all very exciting!

Have a lovely Friday all :D

    • If above-mentioned best friend has recovered from her cold, we shall go and see The Changeling at the pictures. Nope, I'm knackered and the weather is mince, so it was a night in cuddling t'other half on the sofa for me. Woo!
    • [STRIKE]Make dinner with food from the freezer, not payday takeaway[/STRIKE]
    • [STRIKE]Try and find free newspaper on the bus[/STRIKE] Even more impressively, I found a seat.
    • Package up Ebay stuff, as auctions close tomorrow. Bad Fresian. I will do it before I go to bed though.
So, it looks like I have done a lot of my DFW stuff for today. Yay me! I spent a whopping £7 in total today, all of which I have put into https://www.spendingdiary.com and most of which was good spending. Behold!

£3.28 Groceries (Bread, eggs and a lighter for t'other half. I will be pinching the the £1 for this from his change jar when he sleeps. Mwahaha.
    ninja.gif

80p chips. I made my lunch but I was still hungry. I did manage to reduce the price from £1.50 to 80p as I thought I had picked the small box but hadn't. I think she took pity on me!

95p tea. Bad, bad, bad! I spend a fortune on tea from the Starbucks canteen - it is payday though. I only had one, normally I'm a three a day girl. MSE is slowly changing me!

£1.97 was the change left in my purse, so into the Sealed Pot it went. Anything under £1 is going in there now. Woo!

My two Ebay auctions are sitting at £30.49 with 12 hours to go, and postage to be added, so I'm wrapping the stuff tonight and posting next day delivery once the money is in my PayPal account.

My best mate has taken pity on my car-free status
carpink.gif and is giving up her Saturday lie-in to take me to Tesco to do my big shop before Christmas. I can buy heavy things! And perv in the reduced section shop.gif

Moan for the day - what the hell is with the Edinburgh weather today??? It's cold and wet and windy. Bah.
    HSwindy.gif
And now I really must go and wrap that blooming Ebay stuff.

    Hugs to all.

    Hello all! hellowave.gif

It's time for another rambling update from Fresian Towers! My entries in this thing are always huge, but it helps to keep me on the straight and narrow...so on with the show!

    Good things from today

    • Make up! I bought a new eyeshadow set from MAC. It was £30, reduced by 25% and with the VAT reduction came to £23.49. I had a £20 Harvey Nicholls voucher from work (for my birthday) so it cost me £3.49!! And it's sooo pretty.
    • My best friend took me to the supermarket as she has a car and I don't. I spent £72, but it should see us through into the New Year now in terms of tins and pasta etc. We will need to pop in weekly to get veg etc, but I have over £120 left in our groceries/toiletries budget to do us until 23rd January.
    • I cleaned my shower. It wasn't pretty, but is now shiny HSsingshower.gif
    • I made over £40 on Ebay. It will be closer to £30 once the postage costs are done, but it's all extra money to go on my debts. I won't have a lot of time to list in January, but will have a couple of things a month to sell at least.
    • I went to see The Nightmare Before Christmas in 3D at the movies. I have never been to a 3D film before so it was quite exciting, but I woke up at six this morning and ended up falling asleep! I did take a bottle of water and some sweets in with me though instead of paying cinema prices. We have to be careful though as you're forbidden from doing this at our local cinema!
    • Met a friend I hadn't seen in months for a couple of drinks, which was very nice.
    The Bad

Not a lot to report tbh. My house isn't as clean as I want it to be by Monday - I'm working until 1pm on Christmas Eve, and don't want to have to do all the cleaning then!

T'other half is changing his meds, and it's making him sleep for 12-16 hours a day, so he keeps sleeping through things we are meant to be doing, like going to the movies. I know it's not his fault, as he can't control how his body reacts to new meds, but it's quite frustrating. He should be back to normal in a couple of days though.

Ooh, and I burnt my had making dinner tonight and it hurts like a biatch. On the plus side, it's going to hurt too much to submerge it in hot water, so it won't be me doing the dishes tomorrow!

Hope anyone who is reading this has had a lovely Saturday too.

Withdrawal - £42.83 - from Paypal account for Ebay sales. Spent £6.40 posting one package next day delivery yesterday. Assuming the same charge for the other one on Monday, I have made about £30 profit selling things that were just gathering dust. I love the internet.

    Evening all cow.gif

First of all, huge thanks to Terri for my moo smileys - I especially like this South Park one cow-head.gifTee hee!

Anyway, on with the serious business of being a DFW. I'm going to carry on with yesterday's theme and have good news and bad, so...

    Good news!

    • NSD #9 today thanks to the carpy weather :D
    • I made soup, yummy, yummy soup, and got to eat the mutton that I used to make the stock for dinner. Mmmmm..... The soup should last a few days as well, so I will be taking it to work for lunches, it's real winter warmer stuff
    • Cleaned the kitchen. Twice. Once before the soup and once after :rotfl:
    • Cleaned the living room
    • Thought about cleaning the bathroom. This is closer than I have gotten for a while!
    • Made space in a drawer for bubblewrap etc for when I start Ebaying in earnest in the New Year
    • Joined best mate in dropping off presents to our friend so got a cup of tea and some company!
    • Made PAD and clunked £3 into my Sealed Pot
    Bad News

    • Been up since 5.30am due to the weather making my windows whistle. They are still doing it too so I don't think I will be sleeping very well tonight
    • My house still isn't tidy enough for Christmas and I'm working until flipping one o clock on Christmas Eve. Grr. It's enough to make a girl Grinchy
    • New meds are still making t'other half sleep too long, it took me nearly three hours to wake him up. Very frustrating, but not his fault, which makes me annoyed when I grump at him because I am Impatio, queen of the impatient people
And that has been my day in a nutshell. Enjoy the rest of the weekend!

    Good morning cow.gif

I'm cheating again by writing out my What DFW Things list before the thread is created, so I'm not late for work!

    Today I am going to:

    • [strike]Check online banking
    • Make PADs[/strike] I got £21.40 back in travel expenses from work, so this has all gone to debts!
    • Make lunch to take to work with me
    • Take flask of hot water to work to feed my caffeine addiction
    • Have yummy home-made soup for dinner
    • Do yet more washing people566.gif
    • Try and get a free paper on the bus
    • Downloaded some music with my free iTunes voucher danceparty.gif
I have also downloaded two albums from Amazon for £3 each instead of £7.99 from iTunes, and they work fine - an older Kings of Leon one and the Killers new one. I'm also contemplating Snow Patrol but am going to be a good Fresian and maybe buy that in the New Year. There are still four and a half weeks until the next payday! *edit* and I joined Slicethepie this morning!

Have a lovely Monday all :D
