If you are worried about overheating buy the egg - it comes with a guide as to how many blankets etc according to the temp. I am sure I will use it about once but at least it is there as my security blanket.
Yes - we went into it at Parentcraft. But don't forget you will be getting Midwife and Health Visitor visits too, and you will have hubbys family close by to help.
Don't worry - if baby gets hot you take a layer off - simple
Edit - I fully intend using my sleeping bags (and my cot bumper) for a while!!please listen to MFD - she is a wise womanProud Mummy to the gorgeous Benjamin John born 14 March 2009, 8lbs 14ozA new little seedling on the way, due 30 September 20120 -
AF, the overheating thing had me so worried it's a wonder Aimee didn't get hypothermia in her first few weeks! From what I recall it was 1 seet and two blankets... Or one big blanket folded in half... But I think common sense comes into it... Don't pile them in blankets... I'm nervous about this one being a baby in the summer, It's only 2 months after Aimee was born but what if we have a heatwave?!A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...My Fathers Daughter wrote: »Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.

I went to see my BF today who had her new baby on Tuesday. He was so gorgeous. She's one of the very few people I've told about us, so came away with some lovely maternity clothes for early pregnancy and bump bands which she no longer needs. I think these will be coming in useful before much longer as I'm expanding already, and am already using the bump bands.
I'm still trying to hold out until next week before making a doctor's appointment, but finding it hard!0 -
angelfairy wrote: »to be honest, all the overheating talk really scares me (probably my major fear to be honest). talk of it is everywhere and i even saw a thermometer being sold with a bedding set.
how many blankets you should have, with what sheets, sleeping bags etc.
wonder if it will be mentioned at my antenatal class, is that where they told you MFD???
will go back to Matalan to look for bedding. have wanted to go back but hubby prefers going to a different supermarket now (where there's no matalan  )the only time I've ever found chris to be hot is because he was ill.
The thermometers are often provided with bedding it standard stuff, they usually say on them how many blankets you can use for what temp etc.
also you get a medical book when u 1st see HV round here its a red book but I know it differs slightly around the country it has the info in there of what has what tog rating0 -
thanks so much girls, you have all helped soooooo much.
my MIL keeps telling me 'it's common sense, we never had any of this, or any of her daugthers for that matter'.
i just thought it would be common sense and instinct, but when i first started reading about bedding i started to worry.
as for the egg, i do like them (a lot) so am very very very tempted to have one - might just treat myself0 -
Sami i have orthostatic intolerance which normally makes me tired when it sit up for too long, and dizzy when standing or walking, but it's gotten really bad this past month. My GP just told me to drink more fluids, but it hasn't made any difference (except extra loo trips  ). The neurologist said i pass out because of poor circulation too. But nobody has told me what to do about it?! It's so frustrating because i'm sick of being stuck in bed
Last time my iron was at 9, i wonder if i should try those iron sachets and see if they help? Has anyone tried them?
Hypno i hope that water thing works for you both! DH was ill for a good 2 weeks when he got back last time. He seems to have more trouble adjusting back to the UK water than the Indian water though lol. That sounds like such a fab holidayI wana come too

How strange!
I have the Health Visitor coming to visit next week. A new local thing, if any ladies have problems in pregnancy, they like to visit you before the baby is born, for reassurance and to get to know you. As I've had depression, she is coming out to see me. Seems like a good idea!Stay-at-home, attached Mummy to a 23lb 10oz, 11 month old baby boy.0 -
myaccount - I have had spatone and tablets from the docs - make me feel a lot brighter.
AF - the one thing that has really surprised me about the egg is how cool the 16 - 20 degree range actually is. It has probably saved me the cost of it in gas because we now don't put the fire on unless the egg goes blue (or BAD TEMPERATURE as DSS calls it :rotfl: )
Only £15 on amazonplease listen to MFD - she is a wise womanProud Mummy to the gorgeous Benjamin John born 14 March 2009, 8lbs 14ozA new little seedling on the way, due 30 September 20120 -
And I'm so lazy, I've got a cleaner coming next week to give me an estimate. Only a couple of hours a week, and only the jobs I really hate (kitchen floor, argh!).
I'm awful.
And I almost bought one of those eggs, it shall be the first thing I buy when I get to 34 weeks.Stay-at-home, attached Mummy to a 23lb 10oz, 11 month old baby boy.0 -
I didn't know you could get spatone from the Drs? I'll definitely ask next week
I was given some sleeping bags during the last pregnancy, one is upto 6 months and only 1 togg. It's the same lion theme we were going to do last time so it was to use it so it's matching lol. Baby is due in Sept so i wonder if we could use it all? as it's normally pretty cold from Oct-Mar.
Does anyone know where you can get those sleeper/nighty things? And what are they actually called? (like a sleepsuit but with no legs, just an elastic thingy, for easy changing at night).
Feelinggood a cleaner sounds like a great idea. You totally deserve it! I saw an ad in gumtree from a student looking for part time cleaning work, and seriously thought about it that day whilst looking at all the dishes piling up0
