We've had an expensive day... £105 in B&Q on wallpaper and paint and nearly £80 in Ikea on a bookcase and storage unit for Aimee's room... We're just waiting for pizza hut to turn up with tea (3rd pizza in 4 days but for 50% off who wouldn't!) then Aimee's off to bed and we're going to wallop the walls in the living room, it's more or less the same colour, but the walls are so filthy they could do with a refresh.. Hubby is currently running round with a damp cloth and masking tape getting it ready... I've built the bookcase and I'm knackered now!

I have already discussed with GP and he has said that he will arrange it when I get my 6 week check as they have a policy to wait until then. They wont give my OH a vasectomy as he is only 27 otherwise I wouldnt be going down this route.

How old would he have to be to get snipped then? We've agreed that Hubby will be the one to get 'fixed' as its a much less invasive procedure for men than women... But I've had to agree to wait until we're 35 just in case we decide on another... But that's his terms not the Drs...

Hi all..

The builder's been and gone away with my huge list of jobs - he looked rather daunted at the thought of all the jobs I want doing and making a quote out of them! I've known him since I was little (he has a daughter 8mths older than me - my mum and his wife met at one of the village baby/toddler groups) and OH likes him too so that's good I've told him to send the quote to my mum and she can break the news to me. Can't wait to get it started and, more to the point, finished then we can get our bedroom moved round and it'll look more like we're getting ready for baby. Have told him he can start whenever but it needs to be finished by mid-May.

Had a bit of a rough start to the morning and a few dodgy moments through the day but not as bad as my usual weekends. Had a nap this afternoon and have been munching on crisps ever since. Pizza for tea, I think..

Cady, I had a m/c last year (was 9wks but found out from a scan that the pregnancy had stopped at 6wks so was a missed m/c) and got pregnant again with this one three months later. They wouldn't give me an early scan based on what had happened previously, but I had very bad pains in my side so my midwife reluctantly arranged a scan for me (she really didn't want to but when I phoned two days later bawling in pain she gave in.. still don't like her!). I thought I was 7wks then but the scan dated me at 5+3 and they found a heartbeat but they said it's very rare that early (I'm a skinny mini so they didn't have much to scan through). Usually I think they say they can find a heartbeat at seven weeks. Private early scans seem to cost anything between £70 and £130. Hope everything goes well this time xx

i had to fight to get steralised and then couldnt get it done lol! am only 25 and OH is 24, it was hard enough for me to get seen to never mind him and also he is a typical man who doesnt like the thought of someone fiddling around down there?? they may ask me at 6 week check then just when i ask noone seems to have any answers??

elle you think builder would be over the moon having a lot of work to do, i know my OH would be if he got a call for a big job:D esp as everyone seems to be holding on to their money and not wanting anything done:(

must be a night for pizza:D im having it too! Charlie has been fed and bedded and the rest of us are patiently waiting!

Anyone been to Asda today and noticed if their store has the Baby Event stuff out yet?

If we get up before lunchtime tomorrow, OH and I are going to browse in the pram shop near our Asda so might call in if they've started putting the bits out (otherwise I'm banned from supermarkets for this month - very costly! ).

Just thought I would add myself to the given birth list

Cyi-Bailey was born last Thursday after a very quick labour.

Contractions started at 3.30am every 4 mins apart and within an hour the were only 2 mins apart. I didnt actually believe I was in labour at first as they werent that painful and as they were so close together.

I got to the hospital at 5.30am and within a few minutes they were unbearable and coming thick and fast.

Within 1 contraction I went from 7cm dilated to 10cm! and was ready to push but my waters still hadnt broken.

At this point I was in so much pain I wouldnt let them pop them as I knew it was going to hurt more (Im a wimp!) and I only had gas and air, but after an hour they did it anyway and within 10 mins my little boy was born.

We had to stay in for 4 nights as I had a high BP (Which ive still got now) and low blood platelet count. The midwife still has to come everyday to check my Bp but she is going to refer me to the drs to start tablets if it hasnt lowered anymore tomorrow.
