MIL saw a psycic last night (she's obsessed with them). Psycic told her baby is a girl (no-one knows apart from us), and it will be here on 25th or 27th Jan. She didn't give us any idea on names though.

OH is convinced its coming at 3.30pm on Sunday 25th, just as the Liverpool/Everton game kicks off - that would be quite funny :rotfl: :rotfl: .
My friend saw a psychic who told her she was preg (she was but didn't know it yet as it was a couple of days before her AF was due) but she said it would be a boy and was wrong. the same friend's OH was merrily watching Grandstand during her 1st labour

    AF I would pack ur bag as if you'll be staying for the night plus day following birth. Once you've settled down after the birth you'll soon spot anything you've missed and get someone to bring it in for you, oh and make sure you send any 'dirty' thing home with OH otherwise you'll look like a pack horse leaving hosp :D when I left hosp I had;
    Baby in carseat
    small suitcase
2x big bounty bags (one u get in labour, one when bubs has arrived)
a couple of carrier bags with presents, cards, drinks, food

I looked like Ijust come from a shopping weekend away!

    thanks sami

as for 'dirty' things, i am thinking if i just buy cheap nightie/pjs etc and knickers, i will chuck them rather than send them home to be washed. i know that is probably wasteful, but just my thinking at the minute.

i didnt realise you got a bounty bag in labour, had heard you do get the one when bubs arrives.

and didn't even think of presents (gosh how bad is this baby brain getting:eek: )

3onitsway - thank you thank you thank you. i was one of the people talking about the Johnson box. I will be getting this. Might be or might not be worth it but it one thing that has been in mind to get. SIL said she would do 'the box', but just in case she can't for someone reason then i will have one.

also, can anyone help. think i am going mad. i am looking at a crib on kiddicare. fair enough, it doesn't come with the mattress, says the size is 84 x 43 but they do not appear to sell them on their website :confused: off to check ebay to see if there are any brand new mattresses in this size. any other suggestions other than picking a different crib???
In my exp most cribs come without mattress mothercare do one mattress in the size ur after http://www.mothercare.com/Mothercare-foam-mattress-Spacetec-CoolMax/dp/B000JEDYPK/ref=sr_11_1/280-5010666-1617922?%5Fencoding=UTF8&mcb=core

I survived with just 2 BFing nighties last time but it was annoying coz my mum was running back n forth washing stuff coz I was in for labour on the sat and went home Monday aft so I'm gonna get another 2 nighties and 1 PJ set but I'll be getting nice BFing ones prob from mothercare so I can keep wearing them after, I only got a mark on one nightie which washed out fine plus I still sometimes wear my old nighties coz only hubby n chris see them :D

I've just read that back and its not very clear but I can't work out why! :o

Look ok to me but if ur worried have a look if you can find out if the kite mark numbers it mentions are the right ones?

or look at other cribs, it might be worth getting a crib that costs slightly more but is in a more common size so the mattress would be cheaper

FYI my crib is this one http://www.mothercare.com/gp/product/B000JECBI6/sr=1-2/qid=1232708892/ref=sr_1_2/280-5010666-1617922?ie=UTF8&m=A2LBKNDJ2KZUGQ&n=44361031&mcb=core
but I got it for £30 2nd hand

I had a hissy fit last weekend because I saw my SIL in matalan when I was buying blankets and she said that I shouldn't be buying that kind of stuff I should let the family buy it....

Now it is lovely that the family want to buy gifts but !!!!!! am I supposed to do? Wait until I have given birth and pray that the family bring me the right things so Bubba has somewhere to sleep?? My mother is the same 'I have bought you lots of stuff but I am keeping it at home because it is unlucky to have it in the house'!!! Unlucky!!! !!!!!! how am I supposed to get ready for this baby when every b00ger wants to help but won't tell me what they have bought

Ooo - sorry, that is another hissy fit I guess :o

I clearly have only been polite to my family (mum got a bit of a moan about being ridiculous) and would not say anything to upset them but it really winds me up!!

I got the same lecture about having the pram and the carseat in the house! As if the whole giving birth process isn't stressful enough without making hubby run around to pick up the car seat etc from whichever well meaning relative has 'hidden' it from me!!

MFD - i am normally the most superstitious person going, but for some reason i am not when it comes to items in the house for bubs.

i have also thought about when buying things that others are of course going to want to get presents, but as you say, you can't expect or rely on family to get them either. i guess this is the way we end up with more than we need ;)
