Well all my best laid plans for the last NSDs have gone to pot, It's going to be seriously tough to fit the last 6 in and I need a new kettle! It just seems as though every time I get close to having a NSD there is something else come up to make me spend! I think that the lesson is to try to make sure that I don't get too sure of myself early on next month. That said, there is a shared kettle downstairs, I just never use it as I tend to be awake at funny hours, so I am thinking I might see if I cant postpone buying the kettle just to try to get the NSDs! I have a flask, it could work!
On the plus side my sister sent me a little cash that she owes me which is all to the good, and my dad has offered to buy a house to rent to me at about the same as I am paying now but without quite so many of the problems! That would be a massive bonus!
I got paid tonight so I am happy for another week, should knock a big chunk off the debt tomorrow (I am still on Friday night)/monday depending on when I get up.Debt £5600 all 0%0 -
OK not that I am slow or anything, but I have budgeted for the next few months a minimum payment coming out of my account for CC1. This is the same account that I am planning to clear in the next month or so, with all overpayments being added to this account. Only today did I finally click that instead I should use the full £160 that I had budgeted for repayments and just throw them on there now. I more than cover next months minimum already and this way shouldn't have a payment in March and pay marginally less interest.
I get there in the end, but sometimes it just takes a little longer lol.
It should be credited to my account next week along with the cash payment of £200 from all the overtime I put in. That brings it down to about £500 and shortens DTDTs lead!Debt £5600 all 0%0 -

I have come to the conclusion that my kettle is fine. Every tap in this house is a mixer tap, with only the tap in the kitchen downstairs having seperate hot and cold turns, with just the one spout (technical terms, I dont claim to know much about taps). I was already aware that the hot water smelled of burned rubber, we come out of the shower smelling worse and my clothes smell bad coming out of the washer. Back to the kettle, when I got in from work last night and had a drink the kettle downstairs also tasted of burned rubber, so I think perhaps it is becuase I was using the tap up stairs. I had a bottle of water that I filled at work to make a cup of tea, as I have been having terriable headaches from the lack of caffine (I usually drink a lot of tea!) and the dehydration from just not drinking as much. I think that tomorrow I will ring transco and see if they will just come and condem the boiler, so that the letting agent has to replace it.
On the downside, much of my diet consists of stuff that is cooked in water so I am having to spend today to get some stuff that I can fry or grill. (oven doesn't work properly either). I will definately put an offer in on a flat tomorrow morning, It will cost me a bit more each week to live but as things stand I think I could probably save that by being able to use a kitchen properly, have proper dinners and thus more energy (I am prone to aneamia) and I would have a freezer so I could start batch cooking. Plus I am nearly 28, I have shared more or less consistanly for the last 10 years and quite frankly I would like my own space. Rant over.
So it is going to be a spend day for me again, which if I am to reach my target would be the last of the month, however I am very much considering with-holding rent due to lack of drinking water! This at least means that I do not have to worry about not getting my deposit back - I just wont, they will probably insist on me leaving anyway. I complain a lot.
Lets just hope that I get the new flat!Debt £5600 all 0%0 -
Oh dear, well things aren't exactly going to plan today. My offer on the flat was rejected by the estate agent (although I am sure that as a repo he has to put all offers forward). He told me that there had been a lot of interest and another similar flat sold for £170k last week. I couldn't help but think that since we viewed the flat on Thursday and he was asking me for bigger offers today he cant be selling that fast. I will call again in a week to se if he has sold it yet, and if not offer £500 less than I offered today.
The room is going from bad to worse, although the heating engineer did text me to say he'd been in contact with the letting agent and may be able to get a new boiler without having to ring transco. We had a visit from edf today, the electricity bill hasn't been paid and we are due to be cut off. I have contacted the letting agent regarding the situation but just want to get out of here. I will even suffer halls for a bit if need be. Unfortunately as a mature student this means I have to struggle with accomodation over vacation periods.
I should have enough drinking water to last the week, and I will fill the bottles at uni and my headache has calmed down since getting my cuppa fix. I also incurred a library fine from uni as the renewals system was on the blink this weekend, and I couldn't renew. These times are sent to try us! Still £200 off CC1 today so overall it's heading in the right direction!Debt £5600 all 0%0 -
I PASSED MY MIDSESSIONAL!!!!!!!!!
I really dont care right now that I am living in (OK perhaps going to be evicted from) a dump of a house where nothing works. I feel like I can do just about anything! I am now less than £500 behind DTDT (even less after the other BACS payment goes through), I have paid off over £1000 since my LBM and I feel like I can take out a similar amount again!
Woohoo LIFE IS GREAT!!!!!!Debt £5600 all 0%0 -
Well Done you!
Thats brilliant news :-)
and good job on the catch up! see it all peaks and troughs you just gotta remember that on the down days!TOTAL: (1.9.2008) £[strike]20,971.00[/strike] (02.12.10)£11,006.07£9,262.93 Paid off (Since LBM)Debt Free Date [strike]2021[/strike] 2015Savings £100 Dec NSD 11/20, Sealed pot challenger 1043:xmassign:0 -
I had more good news today, HBOS have upped my O/D limit (0%) to £1000 so I can pay off the CC1, who have now offered me a short term (till Aug) BT rate of 0.9%. I am going to transfer the CC2 balance onto that and pay it of before the BT rate finishes.
In terms of the race I will not take the additional £500 off as that is still debt, but I will start to win soon lol!!!!Debt £5600 all 0%0 -
PS not a NSD as had to buy more water (no point going all the way to uni just to top up) and another microwave meal (urgh can't wait to get a proper flat so I can start eating properly). I think I would have been sick if I had to eat any more fried food!Debt £5600 all 0%0

Not much to report really, although as of Friday (Monday at latest) the payments should have cleared and that will be it, CC1 with it's 30+% APR will be paid off. CC2 is currently at something silly like 19.9%APR so it will make a massive difference to get that transfered too.
The car loan was the second priority until CC2 increased the APR on the account, and although still lower than the car (not by much) it is fixed whereas the CC2 could very easily go up again. I would like to clear these variable rates first.
It was meant to be my weekend with the 'daughter' (long story) but she and the family are in lapland. I was invited, all paid for and free but had to go to school and work. How much does THAT suck? It means I wont see her till next month now!Debt £5600 all 0%0
