No need to shout and type in red.
Like I have said it is sad that 30000 people might lose their jobs.
Can you answer me why you think we/ us should bail out a shop? like I posted earlier, do you also think MFi should be bailed out and Klik Photo and my corner shop and my local pub etc etc?
Just to add my job is under threat if Woolies closes but that doesnt change how I feel
The government have bailed out banks and kept employees that earn probably more in a month than the woolworths staff earn in a year !, the government are in discussions with other companies about bailing out brands like Jaguar (Tata who own them took on a bridging loan to complete the process and now need help to pay that bridging load off !) so why could Woolies not be bailed out !, I know in the cold light of day it wont happen, but people are allowed opinions on here
Also just like to add, in South Africa, Woolworths are like M&S and sell food etc apparently they are still going strong, are they owned by someone else http://www.woolworths.co.za/caissa.asp?Page=ITB4_RHContext&Post=Home0 -
Anyone know if I can return a faulty product? I bought a dvd player, which I was thrilled with as was a bargain, last week and I got it out to have a quick look as its a xmas present and seemed ok but on closer inspection yesterday, before wrapping, I have noticed that the catch on the opening case has broke off and although it still opens and shuts, it pops open on the slightest touch, ie - when your pressing the fast forward and rewind buttons on the machine. I really wanted to keep it and will be gutted to have to take it back as I know I wont get another the same at that price. Having looked on here, I know refunds are sometimes not been given (even though I was refunded on soemthing a week or so ago) but does this include faulty goods???
Any help/advice appreciated!!
TIA :-)))0 -

I had the same problem with a sandwich toaster I got last Saturday, it was boxed but when I got it home and took it out of the box it was very dusty and dirty and looked like an old display model, I tried to use it but it doesnt heat up so I think it may have been a 'return', it was only something like £3 so I doubt I will return it, but they are probably delving to the bottom of warehouses etc to sell off all stock and that seems to include faulty items so beware, it is a bit like a care boot sale, you just dont know what you are going to get !0 -

Thanks, I reckon this was returned too as it was not bubblewarpped or secured in plastic covering like they normally are for protection, just inside its cardboard box and held in place with cardboard ends. But I will need to replace it so would like the money back so I can. As it was the olny disney cars one I know I cant exchange it which is a shame as DS would love it, Much better than having a plain old one!! Sooooooooooo gutting!!0 -

im my town people have even started stealing the letters off the sign from outside, last week the sign said OOLWORTHS,when i passed by yesterday it now says OOLWO THS,guess people are thinking of ebay?lol
......i was in there yesterday, getting what maybe my last chance of pic n mix, queued up with loads of people to pay at the till, whilst waiting im guessing somebody said something like 'you're busy today' to one of the ladies(loose description) serving-to which she replied at the top of her voice 'yes, its just a shame people weren't loyal and supported the company before now and not pack it out like vultures when theres a closing down sale on'0 -
OOLWO THS
that's woolworths but with 20% off
It must be so demoralising for the staff not only to learn that you are going to be made redundant in the run up to christmas but also because thousands of customers descend on your store, ransack it and leave it looking like a jumble sale with clothes thrown all over the floor, they then get complained at by the same customers because the queue is 20 people long and because there isnt a sign up that says "no returns" or because there isn't 50% off wii consoles or plasma tvs.
I bet half the staff dont turn upfor work when its like that, making it even harder for the ones that do.0
