I so really feel for the staff, mixed feelings or what!!whilst people are happy getting bargains, staff are dreading being out of work, and of all times Christmas!!!! Might not even be able to get their presents, with no money for Christmas!!!
And as for the quote above..........WHY SHOULDNT TAX PAYERS PAY TO BAIL WOOLIES OUT, THEY PAY FOR EVERYTHIN ELSE!!!!!!!!!!

So on my closing note...... I REALLY FEEL FOR YOU, WOOLIES STAFF!!!!!!
No need to shout and type in red.

Like I have said it is sad that 30000 people might lose their jobs.

Can you answer me why you think we/ us should bail out a shop? like I posted earlier, do you also think MFi should be bailed out and Klik Photo and my corner shop and my local pub etc etc?

Just to add my job is under threat if Woolies closes but that doesnt change how I feel

Its not the staff's fault that they've been told no refunds. This will have come from 'on high'. They simply follow orders at the moment and wait for the day that their job ends. THere should be signs up, butif there aren't then that's the fault of the management not the staff.

don't know if that is a national thing (ie all the woolies closing at 5.30pm/early) but having worked in retail before, this is what we did if we had either a stock take, or had to readjust the store before the next day (ie to ad in sale signs, or move stock around but big time-too dangerous to have with customers in the store)- its about the company not wanting to pay overtime/extra hours wages/night staff (or in woolies case, could be about not haveing enough ££).

Or they may have just decided to have a mass xmas party!

i think its a mixture of both, managers cant be arsed to stay open late and 2 need to tidy the shop floor for the next day, usually this is done by twighlight staff but recently because it has been so busy, the till staff are having to help too.

Hi, I am not sure if this has been mentioned in any of the other Professor Layton threads - BUT - having spoke to the manager of 3 different game shops yesterday hoping in vein to get this game ..... they all mentioned that Professor Layton/the company distributing it are part of the Woolworths family and are so therefore in liquidization and so any games seen are a GRABBIT as they wont be available (as most of us know) and the managers arent sure if they will ever get the game in!!!

    Hope this helps someone

    Merry Christmas :xmassign: :xmastree:
  • Our shut early Thursday night and open late friday morning, they were just moving stock about, but the store is 75% empty now. Our small town won't be the same with out it!! :(

i have a load of love 2 shop vouchers, does anyone know if woolies will still accept theese?

and just my opinion but i think its sad to see them go purely because of memories of excited trips for pick n mix as a little un, but its all just sentimental.

everything they sold can be got elsewhere, often cheaper.
maybe they should have stuck to toys and sweets!!
  • Yep!!!! I have been messed about by WH smiths who use this supplier for all their games and I notice ALL their games except for Brain Training are out of stock. Overheard the manager in Asda telling staff to just fill up and try to push anything they can find out the back because it looked unlikely that they would be getting any more stock! This also was confirmed in Sainsburys, luckily I have managed to source from other areas in time for Christmas-(thanks to kind individuals on here posting their finds!)
I found that your best bet is local independant retailers or the more obscure shops rather than the big retailers.
Worcester's The Entertainer had quite a few DS lites available last week when I visited available in various colours too.

    Regards

  • I really feel for woolworths staff, a member of my family works there, and I think it disgusting that they have not been told ANYTHING about their jobs, no meeting, no nothing. This person doesnt even know if they will have a job after the weekend, nevermind after christmas. Noone has offered any help or advice to them , its just plain wrong.
