by the way banks were saved(who you think will be paying for them) but they were not in a hurry to pass on the rate cuts unless forced to

Why do you think tax payers money should be used to save a SHOP, and did you argue the same case to save MFI and your local pub, corner shop etc etc.
  • I so really feel for the staff, mixed feelings or what!!whilst people are happy getting bargains, staff are dreading being out of work, and of all times Christmas!!!! Might not even be able to get their presents, with no money for Christmas!!!
And as for the quote above..........WHY SHOULDNT TAX PAYERS PAY TO BAIL WOOLIES OUT, THEY PAY FOR EVERYTHIN ELSE!!!!!!!!!!

So on my closing note...... I REALLY FEEL FOR YOU, WOOLIES STAFF!!!!!!
  • I was talking to one off the staff in woolworths and she told me that they are not closing until march, and when i was in there the offers were the same, up to 50% off.

  • Hi all,

The store in Small Heath Birmingham, had shutters down at 5.30pm! They usually close at 8pm. Have they closed already!?!

Its not the fault of the staff but Woolies didn't know what it wanted to be over recent years. Some of them tried to be Tesco Locals selling food. Others turned into Big W selling everything and nothing. Their website was hit and miss. Sorry to see it go but management have nobody to blame but themselves.

don't know if that is a national thing (ie all the woolies closing at 5.30pm/early) but having worked in retail before, this is what we did if we had either a stock take, or had to readjust the store before the next day (ie to ad in sale signs, or move stock around but big time-too dangerous to have with customers in the store)- its about the company not wanting to pay overtime/extra hours wages/night staff (or in woolies case, could be about not haveing enough ££).

Or they may have just decided to have a mass xmas party!

I work for woolies and regardless of the type of shop it is and who it caters for, it was well paid and I never wish for anyone to lose their job let alone me.
