I went into Woolies last week and i have to admit its false advertising, most things were only discounted up to 10 - 20%, i didn't see anything reduced by 50%. Waste of time i think!

if its standard then they should make people aware of this before buying. when dh bought the item yesterday they didnt tell him he couldnt return it! I know other stores always tell you if an items non returnable.

  • I managed to exchange something this morning without any issues.

They were some clothing that was too small.

When in there i found these INTG wellies, that were £7 with 30% off so only £4.90. Also got some pens that were originally £1.50 for 35p!

Sad to see Woolies go but as people have said it was just too expensive in these days.

And what about the season of goodwill - how DARE you!
I have been on these forums for years. I have not insulted anyone, I was not rude to the staff, just posting what I found like everyone else.
Maybe you should read the board etiquette about not posting anything offensive. We are all posting the same reasons on here.
I think you must have too much time on your hands.

Too much time on my hands, don't make me laugh - it wasn't me busting a gut to get into Woolworths at 9am yesterday morning. I wish I had the time to drop everything to do things like that.

I just found it slightly amusing that your trip, motivated by greed, was a complete waste of time. Not just yours, but all the other people motivated by greed as well. Where were people like you before Woolworths got into financial trouble?

And my original post was very much tongue in cheek, not meant to be offensive at all, so please don't twist my comments. I thought it was very obvious that I was being sarcastic at worst and it's a shame you didn't realise that, especially given that we are entering the season of good will.

Still, I've learned my lesson now - profiting from others misfortune is obviously what matters most to some people who post in this particular section of the site, not seeing the funny side of things.

    Merry Christmas!

The notices behind the tills in Grantham say No Refunds, but you can exchange items.

No stock issues there, either. The shop was full of stock (clothes, toys, stationery, cards, christmas decs & trees, cds dvds - no stands were empty nor was anything on a shelf where it wouldn't normally be iyswim), but no busier than it normally is and many people were leaving empty handed. I picked up some school uniform for my youngest for next year and some clothes and undies for the girls, Not much was heavily reduced (I saw only cards with 50% off, but I wasn't in there long).

My trip was motivated by the £30 in vouchers I had to spend :p
