Woolies - closing down sale tomorrow (11/12/08)

Didn't realise there was a thread about Woolies here and I posted my problem on another forum. I bought several CD's on Christmas Eve and only discovered a couple of days ago that a Bob Dylan one costing £5.98 hadn't got the CD in the case! My own stupid fault for not checking. It would be the dearest one, not one of the cheap ones, wouldn't it?
I have looked at the list of stores closing and I will have to make myself go out tomorrow (got flu and feel dreadful), but I am a bit worried that they will believe that there wasn't a CD inside. After all, it's only my word for it. Also, will there be anything left to buy for £5.98? It's just bits and pieces and toys and we have no small children to buy for!!!
I had the very same problem with a CD I bought in Woolies yesterday. Got home and there was no CD inside. I went back today and the only option available was exchanging the CD for something else. It worked for me, and the cashier was very nice about it and said that they had had other people in with the same problem as they've been so busy at the tills.Ebay: £34.680 -
Went up for a final look round our local today. Practically everything cleared and nothing worth having even at 80% off. Still a large queue though. I went really for a las look at our local woolworths. Will be sad to see it shut up the next time I go for a walk.Baby Year 1: Oh dear...on the move
Lily contracted Strep B Meningitis Dec 2006  Now seemingly a normal little monster.
Love to my two angels that I will never forget.0 -
went to the scarborough store today, which closes on 2nd jan. Only 50% off at the moment, although some of it was cheaper once you reached the check out. The place was mostly full of red metal bread bins.
I did get a dvd of Will Smith's Hancock for 7 quid, ashtrays for 25p, 6 toothbrushes for 50p.
They still had luggage for sale at very high prices, and lots of fans.0 -
I live in a nice area and unfortunately with Woolies on the High St closing a whole pile of cheap scum has been visiting the area of late. I plan to approach the Council about obtaining a refund on a % of my Council Tax0

And A Happy New Year to you too!****Everything comes to those who wait......it just seems like I have been waiting forever!****0 -
Went into West Ealing at 4pm today. It was their last day, so 90% off everything. As time progressed, things got cheaper and cheaper...
- 50p for a large cup of pick'n'mix
- posters for 10p each
- boxes of sweeties for £2, then £1
Then near the end it was:
- 80p for a box full of posters (I got a big box of about 100 posters for £2... bearing in mind the RRP is £3.99 each)
- 5 boxed CD's for £1
- 10 unboxed CD's for £1
- kids schoolwear, 10p each
- books for 10p
- plastic CD and DVD cases for FREE!
Staff were wandering around selling things to people in the queue... bit surreal really - it was like a market with it's traders! By the end, they were filling up plastic crates with whatever was left on the shelves, and selling them for a quid. Even the cashiers had to ask how much things were as the prices were dropping all the time!
I spent about £15 and have a phenomenal amount of stuff. It's crazy. I asked if there was a tip jar but they said there wasn't0 -
