  • Godalming Closed Today, I hung around till the end. The store had hardly anything left to be honest. It wasnt worth that much. But They Did Box Some things up near the end for £1 a box. But it wasnt the stuff in the box that i really really wanted. But hey i got:

A BOX OF CHRISTMAS BULBS (200 PACKS) FOR £1
A BOX OF ASSORTED CRAFTS, CHRISTMAS, NOVELTY, PARTY ACCESSORIES £1
AND FINALLY A BOX OF SUNGLASSES FOR £1

I always feel sorry for the staff though. The people that moan at the prices that are already amazingly cheap!! It was a shame there were no cd's or dvd's,
Has anyone on here bought/got one of the 50% off big signs? what did you say, can i have a sign :D
  • I didnt get as many bargains at Woolies like the rest of you lucky shoppers but I was very pleased to pick up Julie Walters new hardback book for just 50p - This was somethin I was hopin I would get as a xmas present but didnt so I am really happy :j

Popped into london rd Brighton today as it was closing. At 3ish there was very little left, but still managed to spend 16-17£... 90% off. Got a few toys and stickers for kids, Hancock and Battlestar gallactica movies, Amy Mcdonald cd for 50p!, take that, Mika, Vivaldi, Busted, style council dvds/cds. Some batteries and a couple of sim cards, one loaded with £30 and another with 300mins hope I can work out how to use them!
A couple of people who didn't seem to be staff had put boxes of stuff by and so we were not allowed to buy the boxed dvd sets on the shelf as some guy had all the cases....?
But I was pleased for one member of staff who had put by an xbox and when the tills went to 90%, paid just £17 for it. I hope they all managed to get some good bargains.
  • Visted woolies today around 4pm not alot left in there however a fair few CD in draw behind counter. Someone came in when I was in there and asked any CD's available (wanted to buy any remaining stock as a job lot)
the sales person says yep lots and she duly opened her draw and loaded lots and lots of CD's-U2 greatest,Rhiana, latest guns n roses etc etc into a large box over 100 . refused to sell any to anyone else and asked him for £100 which he tried to knock the assistant down then moaned that they where charging him alot for what he had. I couldnt believe it Greedy man, anyway when no one looking I grabbed a large pile from the counter the assistant had not charged him and shared them with all the other people stood at the counter most ranged from 80p to £1.20 and got a few good ones.
Left feeling sad and a little annoyed that the CD's should be shared with everyone in the shop many had children and everyone could have left woolies with a few bargains not one greedy individual, but I suppose thats life anyway pleased with what I got.

What, you wanted to buy that as well?:D

Ahaha.... now that WOULD have been a bargain and a half :rotfl:
  • When the Woolies store in Portadown NI closed on Saturday night, any remaining stock was boxed up and given to the local charity shops. At least some charities will make a few quid on the deal.

About the only thing not for sale are the 'plastic crates ' that they get stock etc deliverd in.

I know because they were the only things I wanted to buy....and I couldn't!!! lol lol

In the West Ealing store, they were doing the crates full of stuff for £1 each, including the crate itself.

While I was in there someone bought the CD player they were using to play music into the shop so they had to unplug it all and the store was music free for the final afternoon
