AFAIK, Woolies close down has been enough to make money but not enough to continue it's business. In this case, the staff would normally be paid contracted and not statutory redundancy.

wonder why i filled the form RP1 yesterday then:confused::D
Honesty is the best policy doesn't matter which web site
    you are on!

if i had known then what i know now!

a bargain is only a bargain if you really need it!
  • All staff have to fill in RP1 forms, also people saying about entertainment CD's/DVD's, we had a lot of new stock in that come in from a different supplier and they sent them in at the RRP price, so yes your better off waiting till the last day, you might not get a bargin even then!!

It did cross my mind about what happens to the donations to charity from the sales of these kind of items, not just from Woolworths but other stores too.
  • Popped into my local Woolies (Walthamstow) at around 12 noon today and found that it was it's last day. They had a 'fill a bin bag for £5' offer going on. That didn't include CDs, DVDs, books etc but all the other bits and pieces left on the non-electrical section shelves. So mainly stationary, few toys and what was left of the homeware section.

I didn't go for that offer as most of the stuff left was broken or had missing pieces, but I would have done if I had got there earlier. Instead I got some CDs and a PC game at 70% off, and quite a few batteries at 80% off.

And finally....I let the kids fill a small cup of pix and mix each as that was 70% off (costing 59p) for old times sake (some of the sweets were a bit hard though!!!). Oh well, end of an era.

Didn't realise there was a thread about Woolies here and I posted my problem on another forum. I bought several CD's on Christmas Eve and only discovered a couple of days ago that a Bob Dylan one costing £5.98 hadn't got the CD in the case! My own stupid fault for not checking. It would be the dearest one, not one of the cheap ones, wouldn't it?

I have looked at the list of stores closing and I will have to make myself go out tomorrow (got flu and feel dreadful), but I am a bit worried that they will believe that there wasn't a CD inside. After all, it's only my word for it. Also, will there be anything left to buy for £5.98? It's just bits and pieces and toys and we have no small children to buy for!!!

My local closed tonight, I still can't quite believe it.

Popped in and everything was 80% off including cd's and dvd's.

Got Andrew Lloyd Webber 60 and I am watching now Take That DVD.

It was very chaotic in there but everyone behaving themselves.

I went in at 2pm but it closed at 6pm.
