  • Cheers o4u, none of the above really apply though.
  • I phoned today for myself and was told as the money was not in the account before the rate changed I had no hope of getting that rate of 7%.

So I will ask somebody to go along for me tomorrow and pay a cheque in to set my account up as I'm going to be @ work!
  • I have just signed into my online account and have both accounts displayed - regular saver and nominated web saver account.

It says my identity has to be confirmed but I have already been to the bank and done this 2 days ago. How long does it take to update?! Thanks all.

missed the 7% rate but managed to get it with the 6% today,

i am probably going to sound stupid asking this (but its been a long day at work and my brain is fried lol!) but why does money need to be in the monthly saver by 23rd of each month if it is from another bank, or 28th if from one of their own accounts (or am i reading it wrong and the 23rd of the month is the date they are stating the standing order must leave your account from another bank to get in the account by 28th)

This is what it states: "If you fail to make a payment of at least £25 by standing order to reach your regular saver account on or before 28th of each month (23rd for standing orders from another providor) we will close your account, pay interest up to the date of closure at the current rate for halifax variable rate websave"

The online system can sometimes show odd things about identity. Although it says identity, it could mean they want you to sign an application form. Best thing to do is to phone up telephone banking or go into a branch. They'll be able to tell you what they still want from you.

The 23rd is the date the standing order must leave your bank (if it's coming from outside HBOS). This is just because many banks do not yet send by faster payments, and so then it can take 3 days (+ potentially weekends) to get from your bank to Halifax.

Thanks. Unfortunately I am going to be @ work and somebody else is paying the cheque in for me. I was told everything was confirmed in branch so will my cheque be able to be paid in or will they reject it in the branch? As I wont be there and cant get along until Monday I may end up getting caught out by another rate cut which will just about finish me off!

sorry one more question, you can pay in more than once in a month cant you as long as it goes doesnt go over the maximum?? as it doesnt say in the t&c's that you cant, but at the same time it doesnt say you can (where some accounts specify one or the other)

as i have set up a payment for the opening for £25 which should leave my current account on monday, and have set up a standing order from my current account for the 18th of each month. so december will have two payments??

thanks, i will just set the standing order for the full amount i am paying in this month on the 18th instead and cancel the payment due out on monday, as they have just droped from 7% to 6% this week, i doubt (hope!) they dont drop it before i move the money in as i ahve been told the rate is guarenteed from the date the money goes into the account
