Overpayments so far for January are:- £2,050 (sold a few bits and bobs on eBay over the last few weeks that has boosted the figure).
I've decided to do the Bupa Great Manchester Run which is a 10K (6 miles) event
AND
The Great North Run (Newcastle) which is a half marathon (13.1 miles).
One of my colleagues at work is doing the Great Manchester Run so she talked me into it.
We then convinced each other that we should stretch ourselves to do a half marathon as our sporting challenge in Olympic Year.
So I now have a few extra challenges for 2012.
OH was saying that we need to give serious thought to what we do with the money once the mortgage finish line is in sight.
Sometines, I can't believe that we have halved a £81K mortgage in 2 years without living like paupers and going without treats.
OH was a bit p*ssed that he hadn't got onboard sooner (especially with him having the higher income), but I told him that we have made excellent progress since he got onboard.
You can't change the past, only make better plans for the future.0 -

Great update.
Absolutely fantastic achivement - and as you say, without living like paupers or going without treats - its the best way, you don't resent the OPs then.
Good luck with the running...

MCI
Being a MFW has made us look at cheaper ways to get our treats and made us more disciplined in our spending.
This disciplined approach will not be leaving us any time soon (even when we are mortgage free).0 -
I was paid today, and although ALL my overtime hasn't been paid (I'll chase that up next week), I have made an additional £300 overpayment for this month.
It will be the last overpayment for January.
January Update
Phoned First Direct this afternoon and the mortgage is:- £65,246
January overpayments are:- £2,350.
Year To Date Overpayments (2012) are:- £2,350
Total Overpayment Savings are:- £26,357
Mortgage remaining = Mortgage - OP Savings = £38,8890 -
I have made another payment of £240 today.
A little bit more from eBay clearout and money I didn't spend at the weekend.
This was money I had planned to spend at the weekend on my works 'Christmas Do'.
It involved a trip to a casino (meal and drinks included) and some fun at the tables.
The whole night was a disaster, with food being of a mediocre standard and dreadful service.
Meal was supposed to be served at 21:00, yet some people (6) were still waiting for their main course at 23:15.
After we had words with the management, (took over an hour to speak to the right person), we left with a full refund and ended up traipsing to another bar around midnight and getting drinks there.
I was nothing like our trip to Las Vegas in 2005, where we had some amazing food and visited some fine casinos.
My outlay for the eveining was £15 (which I was quite pleased with, since I wasn't drinking any alcohol).
When I got back to my car, the car-parking charges were £12, so I had to go back to the casino which was nearby and sign-up as a member to get my parking ticket validated (no charge).
Work is coming along nicely, I have some recruitment to attend to over the next few weeks.
I am on holiday again (as I try to use up the holidays I wasn't able to take last September/November), so I can do a lot more training for my 10K in May.0 -

February overpayments so far:- £1,700.
I have sent approx £50 of CDs and DVDs to Music Magpie and Turnintocash.com.
Some stuff went for 30p each and suprisingly some stuff went for £4.00.
Luckily I had a few empty shoe boxes to package up the discs.
Still got another 350 discs to wade through.
OH has ripped the ones we might want to watch/listen to again.
Just sold an old DVD recorder today that has hardly been used (thanks to Sky+), and I got back what I paid for it in 2009.
Just listed another 10 items and I'm hoping that I can generate another £200 for overpayments this month.
Quidco paid £38 yesterday.
I have had a sore throat for the past 2 days and now I have a runny nose. I hope this spell passes soon.
At least I don't have to endure it AND go to work .0 -
Still feeling lousy and I have passed my germs onto OH, so spent my birthday (yesterday) in bed.
Luckily, my dad popped round with a feast, which meant that we didn't starve.
Looked out of the window this lunchtime and saw the snow falling.
At least I have another week off work to get better, and not have to face the cold weather, snow and ice.
Received another £200 in Paypal account from eBay sales so I have transferred that to mortgage.
February overpayments so far:-£1,900.
Another piece has been added to the jigsaw on the fridge (10 down, 5 to go).
Each piece represents £7,533.0 -
