A statement of when and how many points are due to expire.
Rowey2507,

If you can check back 36 months and see how much you spent on your card in the very first month. Sony Card have given you back what you earned in the preceeding years/months. My guess is that the 3000 points you are down are what they are now starting to take off as a result of the 3 year rule.

I am a stickler for detail, as you all probably realise by now. Even though Sony Card haven't, up to yet, told anyone what is due to be taken away from us, I have a cruel accounting spreadsheet that keeps an eye on my finances. I have kept this going for over 10 years and I can see exactly what I've spent anywhere in that time, on a month by month basis. I have added a check in there for Sony Card points and also for all the other cards I use from time to time.

Take it from me, its nice to be fully loaded up with ammunition when you go to war!

By the way everyone, I'll be starting another thread soon which complains about the ASDA credit card. I went in to that deal when fuel prices were through the roof, (diesel was around £1.33 a litre). The card discounted at ASDA pumps by 2p a litre. ASDA are claiming that customer preference is for discounted instore items, so they have reduced the fuel discount to 1p. As a regular customer to ASDA, I don't recall being surveyed in this respect.

The Santander Bank have now took the reigns of this card and I suspect it is nothing to to with customer preference at all.

1p is as they say "hardly worth getting out of bed for", so it is probably more economic for me to fill up at a nearer Tesco filling station and use my Sony Card.

Watch this/that space!

• Hi,

I've received my December statement and noticed my points have been dropped by 25000 points.

I phoned MBNA who in turn told me to phone Sonycard. I phoned up sonycard today and the Cus. Rep. told me to write a letter to their DISS address. Did anybody have much luck in getting the points back when writing to them.

I can't believe that there was no advance notification and there is nothing on their website under FAQ or Terms and Condition.

I've been collecting points since 2001.

If you email Sony at the email address in post 40 and complain about your points then they should hopefully reinstate them for you. I emailed them on Monday night 19th January and they replied back to me the next day with this email.

Thank you for your email regarding expired pulsebeats, .

We forwarded your email to our Head Office and they have agreed that as a sign of good faith we can authorise crediting 24,518 points which have been added to your account as of today.

Please be aware these re-credited points have a 3 year life as of today also and that all terms and conditions are available on the members website www.sonycard.co.uk/members.

Please accept our apologies for any upset or inconvenience caused and do not hesitate to contact us if you have any further queries.

Kind regards

This letter is just the bog standard one that everyone on this forum seems to be getting but at least we seem to be getting our points back. Hope you get yours back but as I say use the email address in post 40

Has anybody actually see proof that their points have been re-instated?

I got an e-mail from them on the 7th January saying mine would be re-instated but just checked online on my January statement (produced after the 7th) and the points havent been added back on.

I rang Sonycard today and asked for a points balance after Sony told me that they had returned my 24,000 points on Tuesday and they have put them back on.
• Hi TMW1230,

I received the following response today. Do you know how long it takes for the points to be re-instated. I've just gone online and they haven't been added. Thanks for your help.

Navstar.

Hi Navstar,
My points came back onto my account the same day as I got the email from Sony. I assume when you say that you have checked online you are talking about your MBNA account. The points balance won't change on there until you get a new statement. I rang Sonycard on 0870 0362444 and just asked them for a points balance. If you do this you'll know if the points are back on yet.
• Hi TMW1230,

You're absolutely correct. I checked MBNA online. As per your advise, I'll call Sonycard tomorrow to confirm. Once again, thanks very much.

Regards,

Navstar.

I have, they had been added back to my statement which arrived last week. There is still no indication of when points expire though so I don't know if they will start taking them off monthly now that the ones that remained are presumably getting near to 3 years old or if they expire a years worth at a time.
