Has any one had any of their MBNA SonyCard Pulsebeats taken away?

I have not used mine for a while as I have been using a Capital One card with 1% cashback and have recently got the AMEX card with 5% cashback for 3 months, then either 0.5, 1.0 or 1.5% depending upon spend level.

Received a Sony S350 Blu Ray player a few days ago - very impressed, well worth 21,900 pulsebeats.

WIll be using my remaining pulsebeats when I see decent stuff in the catalogue and then snipping and binning this card.

A statement of when and how many points are due to expire.
I have now seen the points re-instated in my February statement. I have inquired if I could return the HD DVD recorder, which I was forced to redeem my remaining points against, for those points to be refunded.

despite two reminders, I have not received response since they asked me whether I had opened the package - which I confirmed I had to check contents!

Just as a matter of interest - I have seen a recent press report that Air Miles are writing to their customers to use up their Air Miles as they are about to expire them. Something Sony Card should have done to us!

Touser,

If I were you, I'd resend your email and explain that you have not yet had an answer and require them to respond urgently. If they can't give you a straight answer then ask them to at least acknowledge your email.

Personally, the response I got was quite quick. I find it strange that they haven't got back to you yet - it may be that your original email has disappeared down a "black hole", so when you resend, CC it to yourself or someone else. Perhaps you know a magistrate or a someone in a position of responsibility. If they see that you are copying someone important into your communication they might act a little quicker.

I reckon they are probably unindated now so they are struggling to keep up.
Who did you contact regarding the lost Sony points? Can you provide an email address or a postal address that I can target? I sent an email last week to sonycard@eu.sony.com
and copied it to
customerservice@rewards.sony.co.uk
but so far have not received any response. I "lost" over 25,000 points.
• Dear Shanker,
I followed your advice and emailed Sonycard along the lines you suggested. I have received no response/acknowledgement to date. However, I have now looked at my latest statement online and they have credited me with my missing points "Misc. Points + 25,041". SUCCESS!
I intend to utilise the full balance and will probably use another card for my main purcheses in future. This was no way to treat a loyal and long-standing customer.
Many thanks for your help - much appreciated.
• Oh dear. Maybe i was fickle that i wouldn't have a repeat of what happened 12 months back, and during the last 12 months SonyCard may have developed a system to advise its loyal customers when points were about to expire. Silly me, SonyCard have deducted 15,000 points from my balance as of the latest December online statement. I expect many many other people will be about to notice the same fate. I'd kept copies of my last correspondence 12 months back, and have forwarded an email back to Sony to ask for my points back ASAP. Let's see how SonyCard get out of this one....

OK Everyone - it looks as if it is kicking off again!

NShah doesn't say how many points have been deducted. By the way Sony don't administrate your account, MBNA do, but it is worth complaining to Sony on the basis that you believe them to be a quality company and that MBNA are giving them a bad name. The previous administrators of SonyCard were the Bank of Scotland, (not RBS), I think? - they were certainly more approachable than this lot!

As I warned, a year as now passed since we went through the pain of having our mass of points removed that had taken us 3+ years to accumulate and then after a load of hassle and trouble managing to get them back again.

However, the conditions set on getting them back were made clear. They will be honoured for 3 years only from receipt, an then they will be taken away again. However, again, this will not prevent thir system from kicking in to start removing points from your account on a month by month basis as and when their 3rd anniversary occurs.

It is still a poor show from MBNA with regard to the fact that seem to not wanting to give warning of this impending action on the previous months statement. We need to request this, nay demand, that they give us at least a months notice of when and how many points will be removed.

I keep a close eye on my account and I can with reasonable accuracy predict how many points will become due because of how much I spent that month 3 years ago. I would have thought that some would have been removed this month but my last e-statement doesn't show it. In fact they haven't been touched.

I am also looking through the Sony Point catalogue and as expected, of what you would describe as high value items, there is nothing I can afford apart from yet another MP3 player or a camera, neither of which I need. If they do start removing points now, my account will not grow. It will either shrink with the monthly removal of points or stay still since my spending per month on the card is about the same.

I fancy a PS3 Slim, but Sony will not accept part payment and points, so what do I do? Rather than have the points taken away wantanly, it looks like another MP3 player!
• Please note by complaining to the usual email addresses - i have success within 24 hours. My 15000 points have been re-credited today.

It would help us all if everyone involved who has contributed to this thread, were to post a note just to say if they have had any of their points removed as part of the rolling month by month system that I suspect will be kicking into operation imminently.

We all receive our statements at different times of the month so it may fore-warn everyone as to what is happening to them personally.

Also, I would recommend that anyone who has refused the offer of the postal staement being replaced by the e-copy, maintains their position. Stay with the postal statement. I say this because this is another way of MBNA wiggling out of not giving you the full information. The e-statement does not contain anywhere near as much information, so do not go paperless!

Reinstatement and allowed time to redeem before expiry.
Sorry I didn't write back earlier to comment on what happened after I sent Sonycard an email of complaint. I'd been inactive on these forums for a long time and had only recently starting posting again because of another unrelated topic! Basically, I'd written a post earlier - which you can view on Page 3 of this thread - about my frustrations dealing with the MBNA customer svc reps. Well... I sent Sonycard an email of complaint soon after - dated 7th January 2009. I did not bother sending a copy to MBNA. On the 9th January 2009, I received an email from Sony saying that they have forwarded my letter to their Head Office and as a sign of good faith, authorise crediting of all the points that had "expired" on Dec 08 back to my Sonycard account. Since then, I've used them to claim Rewards - a memory stick for my Handycam. I no longer bother sitting around waiting for points to accrue for big Rewards. Can't trust them to not do it again, can I??? But basically, all I wanted to say is this : It can be done.
