agree with jps if you arent happy with postage cost then dont bid. or why not search for listings in order of price including p + p?0

Selling price + postage = total cost of the item. If your happy with the total cost bid, if you are not don't - the actual cost to post is irrelevant.
The postage price is actually the postage and packaging price - so not just the cost of the stamps, but also any packaging and the cost of getting to the post office, which may include parking, not to mention the sellers time.
I don't see a great problem in discussing the postage cost with the seller before bidding - at the end of the day, if you don't ask you don't get. However, once you bid you are entering into a contract and it is wrong and unethical to try and change this after the auction end.0 -

It's not wrong to discuss it, it's the whole ethos of this "moneysaving" site.
It's wrong not to pay it if the seller refuses to give a discount, and the buyer in this case did pay the asking rate for the postage.0 -

I haven't got a problem with some one emailing about a postage discount.
Any discussions have to be carried out before they bid on the item.
Not after they have bid and definately not after the auction has ended0 -

It is not wrong to discuss/haggle/negotiate or whatever before you bid.
It is wrong (legally and morally) after you have bid - you have entered into a contract and should have the balls to see it through.
Why would you wait until after the auction end rather than before you bid, unless you think doing so will intimidate the seller - I'm not sure that is what this site is about!0 -

I don't see anything in there that suggests you try to renage on a contract.
Contacting sellers to arrange alternative delivery or collection is perfectly sensible (if you read that section, you will see that it says nothing about trying to change the price for the listed method of dispatch) BUT YOU NEED TO DO THIS BEFORE YOU BID !0 -
Don't shout, it's rude. And lighten up slightly.
"Ask for the sun and you may just get the moon-
Remember, do it with humour, do it with style and there’s no price or suggestion that’s too outrageous. You can haggle virtually anywhere for anything."

Merely emphasizing the point, as it seems to have been lost thus far (and I'm still not sure you have it).0 -
