afternoon all, what a pain of a day.
Work until 1, then Charlie, then straight to B+Q - machine finally fixed so had a HUGE sheet of MDF cut for me, then nice young man put it into my car. Scary drive home, having to put my hand on it each tim Iturned right so it didn't slide across and decapitate me but luckily I'm only about a mile away. Then I had to do the 'hold this bit of wood' for OH (no, not that kind of wood if Lenny is reading!) for half an hour then straight back to work to do print outs, laminates etc for this open day (unpaid though
)
Now back home, need to wash up, iron skirt or get trousers dry for tomorrow and then do some dinner.
To add my 2 pe'eneth, I think feeding a baby in the bath sounds lovely. All warm and soft and cosy.

Hmm, see the thing is I think Elliot loves nursery - I really do - it's issues I have, little things adding up to !!!! me off and make me wonder how much CARING for the babies goes on - like noses not being wiped - so much so that it scabbed and bled - that one really upset me. But, he is changed often enough and never gets nappy rash, so I try to put things in perspective. And I need to speak up more when these things happen, I am very non-confrontational and a bit timid so don't like to cause a fuss - but I need to stand up for my baby because he very well can't. It's a toughie... I did complain though and have seen an improvement - but the cynic in me wonders for how long?(Land_of)_Maz wrote: »Oh poor OH and his dog... it's horrible innit...
re child minder... as long as they have other kids too it can be a great environment for really young kids. If you don't think Elliot likes nursery then it's worth moving him, but you might encounter problems again when you put him into his proper nursery school for his 2.5hours later... better now and he'll get over it soon, or later?
although if you feel positive about this one, then go with your instincts, she sounds like a good catch!Hi DD
I am studying for my chartered accountancy exams...
All my children have been to the same childminder over the years. She is retiring next year, but she is 'nanny' to all my kids..I have no family nearby and she is great. I used a nursery when i first moved to the midlands but i found it really difficult to leave my kids in a room full of other kids.
My childminder has other children and chloe loves going there every day. I have been very very very lucky and if anyone else ever finds a childminder like mine they should snap them up quickly..
sorry if that confuses you even more DD, but I am firmly in the childminder camp.
Although when I was young my mum hired some horrendous childminders for me.......but i think my mother has no sense when it comes to people:rotfl:
Wow Sammy that is pretty hardcore - when do you get your results?
My mum used a couple of !!!! childminders with me too, one hit me with a wooden spoon  and forced me to eat peanut butter even though the stuff makes me sick, gag, and retch, can't stand even the smell or appearance of it now!i was supposed to be having roast chicken for dinner but it hasnt defrosted:rolleyes:
DD sorry to hear about the pooch
As regards Elliot, only you can decide but he may get more 1-1 attention with a childminder, but nurseries tend to be more structured with regards to learning
Overall I am torn as I see pro's and con's for both. My concern is that this childminder works closely with another - well that's good obviously, two adults, but it also means 6 under 5's which is just a LOT plus 6 over 5's in the holidays - 12 children! There are only 10 babies at Elliot's nursery, with 5 staff in that room (more in the older bit though).
Nursery is VERY convenient but I feel guilty for thinking that because it's not about me, it's about him. But not sure how I would get him to a CM and then get myself to work. She also seemed quite a disciplinarian. I think you would need to be with that many children around. Whereas nursery tend to do what you want them to with the children. On the other hand she is very highly recommended and it is rare that she even has a vacancy and I think that must speak for itself.
Ach, it's a minefield. I think I will have to say no thank you to her - she was fab about not pushing me and said she just hoped meeting her was helpful - and it was - perhaps I should look at other nurseries and meet some other childminders. I can't move him and be uncertain about it as it will be unsettling so I need to be sure.
Essay over
OH went to see his doggie and take some pictures, and I am going to get us a takeaway and wine later to cheer him up.0
