Morning! Well, 2009 is now well and truly here. I am off to run a 10k race this morning, then will see how the day pans out from there - I am now not back into work until Monday, having taken a day off for tomorrow, so I have a few days of catching up that I can do hopefully before the world gets right back into the swing of things!

I want to do 3 dooyoo reviews today to keep me on my target for January, and I have to do the scratchcards yet.....my online banking won't make my 1st Jan payments until tomorrow because of the bank holiday, so I can't even update my snowball - that will have to wait until tomorrow.

Happy New Year everyone - posters and lurkers alike! I hope you have a good day today x

Happy new year to you hypno. i had a look at the dooyoo thingy, but i guess i was looking in the wrong bit, it just looked like a comparison website. Will go and have another look tho you have reminded me.

Hi chev, and happy new year to you too although you lot are already half way through January by now :rotfl:

The race is later this morning - giving those with "delicate heads" a little more time to wake up and get sorted! I didn't drink last night so have a clear head, but am still grateful for the extra coffee drinking time!

Everyone here is still in bed, so a nice quiet time and I am making the most of it with MSE!

Scratchcards gave me nothing more than 10p - but 10p is 10p and it will soon grow!

    My aims for January are:
    • reach £50 payout on dooyoo (currently at about £30) - if I do 2 reviews a day I can achieve this, so perfectly "doable".
    • Not buy lunches or coffees at work - take packed lunches in and buy fake cappuccino sachets - I have signed up to the 100 day challenge for this one so have to report in there......
    • keep on target with the running - it is now only 16 weeks to the marathon so no time for slacking however cold/wet it is, or however lazy/tired I am feeling!
    • reduce the debt by £2000 which would take me to about £36.5k I still have some ski-training costs to find, so cannot realistically see me paying off any more than that, and to reduce by £2000 will be a challenge this month, but as you know, I don't shy away from a challenge!
    • Meal plan and grocery shop efficiently so we get proper meals at reasonable times without going over budget.
I have cancelled my monthly weightwatchers subs - £17 ish which is wasted really, because it is my running that is resulting in my weightloss, not what I am eating. I am eating more to offset the extra used in running, and that doesn't really work with weightwatchers at the mo - plus I am not so much losing lbs but changing shape and losing inches, so the WW scales just depress me when they say I have not lost weight and it is daft me paying that money only to get frustrated!

Happy New Year Hypno and everyone else here!

How exciting that by the end of this year you should be into single figures with the debt. That really is fantastic - here's to a really great year for you and the family.

Hi PP! I called up my snowball calculator, even though I can't put in the Jan 1st payments until tomorrow, and that shows that I should be at £30k in April, £20k in August, and £10k in December, so spot on really (obviously not allowing for disasters in the meantime!) It really is quite bizarre to think that in just a few months time, we might only have an "average" amount of non-mortgage debt!

does that mean we are verging on "normal"........blimey, I hope not :o

Well, £2000 is a bit optimistic really - about £1100 happens "naturally" as a result of paying normal minimum payments, so I have about £900 to find through "extra" means......so far, all I have lined up is my scratchcards and a couple of small mystery shops - the student money for Jan is allocated to ski training stuff, and I have no teaching booked in......so it really will be a challenge to find that money from somewhere during the month.

Some of it will have to come from reduced grocery budgets etc I think. Anyway, anything that gets paid off as an extra, really, is just that - an extra - the debt is coming down and I should still be on target for 2009 even with a slow start to January (bloomin kids and their skiing :rotfl: ).
