Personally Pania I would me more inclined to think "S*d it, let them think me a miserable beggar" than to spend money you don't want to on a do you don't want to go to! A couple of years ago some friends of Dr Dragon's tried to guilt us into going to their party but we didn't want to so we went out for a Chinese meal instead! (Granted it cost us £70 a head + booze but we a) had the money and b) really enjoyed it!), stay in and have a virtual new year with us insteadDo not meddle in the affairs of Dragons, for thou art crunchy and good with catsup

Happy New Year fellow DFWs....best thing about new year is that it is time to make new resolutions and start afresh with things.
funny how many of us don't like NYE...i hate it too...DH and i were going to be having a quiet night in but friends invited us for dinner yesterday (we are all taking a course) so no spend as food in house....will enjoy when i get there but right now would prefer to have quiet night in. Funny how you think everyone else is out having a fab time enjoying themselves and you are the only one wanting to stay at home.
Here is to a virtual night in i say! HAPPY NEW YEAR:T0 -

Happy New Year! And to all those who are now able to say "debt free this year" woohooooooo!!
As for me, I now have to say "I am 40 next year" which sounds rather scary, as it has always been sooooo far off - but I will be debt free and saving for my dream house by that point so it is all good really, I suppose!
The best laid plans and all that - we have only just got home from the party - was very nice, relaxed, good friends, and karaoke, and spent the grand sum of £7.60 so very MSE too......Even though I didn't want to go, I am glad I did.
So, here's to a happy and healthy 2009, with a bit of debtbusting thrown in. Thank you for your help in 2008 and long may MSE/DFW continue in the same way.
